I haven't flown a kite since childhood and was eager to try it again. After browsing at least a dozen kites here on Amazon and also in a toy store, I chose this rainbow parafoil. I'm glad I did.

It has NO sticks to break and no parts to assemble (right up my alley!) It also does not require running to get it into the air (at least not when I flew it). That's also a plus, because I always felt silly running with a kite. This one just took off, but gracefully, almost like a floating pillow. :) The rainbow colors are beautiful, and the TAIL (not visible on the Amazon photo) is brilliantly colored and super-long! The tail also makes a pleasant rustling sound.

I think this kite would be great for a child, because there's nothing to break and it is easy to get aloft and control once in the air. Plus it really is very pretty. I would also recommend it for adults like myself, for all the same reasons.

This simple kite is fast to get flying in little wind and packs up easily for transport. The supplied string is good enough for beginners but you may need to upgrade to better/longer string if you want to fly higher.

This kite flies like a dream. The rainbow of colors is a mesmerizing display up in the sky. It is my favorite kite ever. It comes with a large ring to hold the string which is especially nice. When you are done you just stuff it back in the handy bag. If you can only have one kite, make it this one. It is beautiful and relaxing experience to just 'go fly a kite'.

What an amazing kite! I am like a kid when I take this to the beach to fly. The first day we flew it, 500' of line spun out in an instant. (Although it comes with a spool, I chose to buy a 500' roll of lime green.) Kids and adults alike love the way the kite looks in the sky. I am so pleased with my "Go Fly a Kite" purchase I just sent for two more of their kites. My young friend likes to hook the string on my bike carrier and fly the kite. I heard one older teenager say to her boyfriend, "There goes the cool kid with the kite." It's that beautiful and engaging!
