Sara Blake takes desperate measures after nine months of unemployment. Overqualified for most local job postings, she advertises herself in the local paper as “Girl Friday.” Her friends put the ad on two local billboards, causing a minor media stir in the city of Reno. The stunt pays off, and she soon lands a seemingly perfect job. Sara embraces her new position as a commercial property manager and quickly has things under control. A vandalism occurs at one of the properties, and then a tenant is murdered, and Sara finds that all is not as it seems. Something strange is going on, and Sara’s past skills as a banking compliance officer come into play. Sara noses around to find out if the red flags she has noticed have any merit, and breaks the rules she used to enforce. Soon enough, she learns that applying the skills of her old trade to her new one is dangerous business.

After layoffs end her job at a bank, Sara finds herself looking for work futilely until a friend posts a girl Friday ad for her on a bulletin board. Instantly, she is a celebrity and has offers, some rather shady, flooding in. The job she finally takes is a good, albeit unusual one. Then,she begins a sideline, sleuthing, and that bit of moonlighting could prove to be the last career move she makes.
**** Though the story would have been stronger if the mystery angle had begun a little sooner, the plotline prior to its introduction provides valuable background information and good character development for a potential series. Breezy and fun, this is an easy to read novel, one that will have you asking for more of Sara's adventures. Though initially, I must admit to qualms from the fact that its from a very small press, which usually bodes ill for the reader, all my fears proved baseless. If a larger publisher wants to catch something good, they'll snag this. In the meantime, readers can enjoy. **** Amanda Killgore

The book starts off a little slow, but it's a necessary part of the whole story. After that, an entertaining read that's quick and enjoyable, and full of amusing characters.
