5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly informative, April 28, 2008
This review is from: Go Google: 20 Ways to Reach More Customers and Build Revenue with Google Business Tools (Paperback)
This is, in a way, an exploitation book. The tagline on the cover says "20 ways to Reach More Customers and Build Revenue with Google Business Tools". It's a little bit of a stretch to include Google Apps, a set of online business applications, in this rubric, but author Greg Holden pulls it off convincingly by comparing the utility and cost of Google Apps with its Microsoft counterparts.

Where you might expect simply a rehash of Google's own extensive help files, it is apparent that Holden has put considerable effort into actually learning the various tools that Google makes available.

For example, he adds insights that an unsophisticated user might not pick up on, such as adding Google Talk to your own website to allow direct live interaction with your own customers and prospects. This might be old hat to experienced web marketers, but not to neophytes.

Holden covers a remarkably broad range as do the Google tools he covers. For each of Google's services, Holden provides a detailed description and lots of hints and tips.

Overall, this is a surprisingly informative book. Those not familiar with Google will find it helpful as an introduction to all of Google's services.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Google Spreadsheets and Page Creator to Google Talk and more, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Go Google: 20 Ways to Reach More Customers and Build Revenue with Google Business Tools (Paperback)
Thousands of people use Google to search for information, so it makes sense to think of it as a business tool - especially when Google has invested time and effort into concrete tools to further this end. GO GOOGLE offers a guide to its applications, from Google Spreadsheets and Page Creator to Google Talk and more. From advertising a small business to getting it organized and calculating its hits and worth, GO GOOGLE covers all the basics with a focus on tailoring business needs to Google's many business offerings. An invaluable pick any computer or business library needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars 20 Solid Techniques for Getting the Most Out of Google, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Go Google: 20 Ways to Reach More Customers and Build Revenue with Google Business Tools (Paperback)
Google is far more than a search engine now. It's also a way to start, manage, and market your business. It costs far less than you think to do this.

Greg Holden outlines 20 different ways for you to use Google to help you make money in your business. This includes collaboration and communications tools like Google Docs, Gmail and Google Talk. It also includes tools to help you market, including Google Book Search, Google Base, Google Search, and Adwords.

What I liked about this book is that it takes each of these tools and explores each one of them individually, showing you how to use each one of them to make your business more effective. Holden shows you how to use these tools to collaborate with employees and business associates. This makes your business more cost effective because you can get things done faster.

Whether you are a one person business, or you have employees or contractors you work with, these applications will help you manage your workflow a lot better, and this book will show you everything you need to do to get started. A real time saver.
