5.0 out of 5 stars DONT LET IT GO AWAY
The GO soundtrack rates as high as the movie. A great soundtrack to chill with your buds with at an after hours party. A completely sexy feel good aura surrounds it. Beginning with NEW by no doubt. their entry into the dance world. Also the most notable song ever by NATALIE IMBRUGLIA...it's a breathtaking song, stirs deeper than torn ever did. 5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Soundtracks of 1999, July 30, 2000
By
Luis Hernandez (New York, New York, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Go: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Incorporating a blend of various musical styles, the soundtrack to the film "Go," is one of the best soundtracks released in 1999. With a selection that no doubt will appeal to young adults, the soundtrack is as good as the film was.

No Doubt's single "New," was one of the best songs to come from the Anaheim, California band since the release of their "Tragic Kingdom" album. The song played at the films end credits, was a blend of No Doubt's style of rock with great lyrics.

Canadian hip-hop group, Len, provided the album with their summer hit, "Steal My Sunshine." Similar to the Beastie Boys in their early days, Len's hip-hop meets suburbia sound is truly refreshing. Other great songs on this album include "Magic Carpet Ride," by Philip Steir/Steppenwolf, "Gangster Tripping," by the amazing Fatboy Slim, and Shooting Up In Vain" by Eagle-Eye Cherry (Neneh Cherry's brother).

But the ultimate highlight of this great compilation has to be the electronica hit "Believer," by the incredible BT. BT, who is one of today's foremost electronica gurus, was also the film's music supervisor, and many of his tracks are heard in the movie. "Believer," which is the song played at the giant rave party in the film is 10 minutes of pure pleasure. Once you hear it you feel that you have been transferred to another place, because it is fantastic. It's a shame that BT's other tracks heard in the film, especially the track played during the chase in Las Vegas, were omitted from the album.

Truly, the "Go" soundtrack was one of the best soundtracks to be released in 1999. Other great soundtracks released that same year that you should check out include "Cruel Intentions," "Trick," and the "Matrix". Go and check out this soundtrack and other albums by BT for a great mind trip.

4.0 out of 5 stars A SONG FOR HOLLY, September 25, 2002
This review is from: Go: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Esthero's "Song For Holly" is by far the best moment on this soundtrack to the 1999 film "Go". Produced by Danny Saber, "A Song For Holly" is atmospheric. Mixing Esthero's impressive vocals (a cool mix of Sade, Erykah Badu, Bjork, and Everything But The Girl's Tracy Thorn) with a sense of vurnablitity and remorse yet a line of optimism. Beautiful song and me being a huge fan of Esthero's, this track (although three years old) makes me feverishly await Esthero's next album. This time, I promise she'll BLOW up!!!

Other than the butterfly of this collection-"Song For Holly"-
there's some other fairly entertaining music on this soundtrack. There's Len's "Steal My Sunshine", a well-produced and happy 'fun' ditty( rumored to be an in-direct tribute to the love drug, Ecstasy) which bubbles with amused good feeling. With a sample of former adult film starAndrea True's disco hit "More More More", how can you go wrong? :-) No Doubt's offbeat "New" still sounds up to par, Fatboy Slim's "Gangsta Trippin'" (heard on way too many cheesy teen-targeted television ads and MTV specials), and DJ Rap's "Good To Be Alive" all will keep you satisfied.

Although the clunkers- the cornball "Magic Carpet Ride" by Phillip Steir (also heard on many a cheesy television commercials), Natalie "One Hit Wonder" Imbruglia's "Troubled By The Way We Came Together", and a limp remixing of Eagle Eye Cherry's already flat "Shootin' In Vain"-could have been omitted, "Go"'s soundtrack is actually one of the last half-decent ones to be released, since quality soundtracks have now went the way of eight-tracks!

But essentially, get this soundtrack just for "Song For Holly". Anything with Esthero is worth buying!!

I bought this album before I saw the movie. I loved it. Then I saw the movie and loved THAT. This album is a cool and funky mix of songs that gets my pulse pumping. I listen to it as I drive to whatever bar or club I will be hanging out in that evening because it puts me in just the right frame of mind. All my friends have bought the album after hearing it in my car.

The movie "GO" was great. Most of the music in the movie was good too (the rave/techno stuff). The problem with the CD is that it only has one or two songs of that type. The CD obviously doesnt put every song from the movie on the soundtrack. Whoever picked the tracks should have picked more of the rave/techno music to put on the album and less of the boring stuff. The best song on the CD is BT-Believe.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Soundtrack of Remixes and great Songs!, September 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Go: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
I think the soundtrack to go is great! It has awsome remixes and a mix of great songs that are good for any party. I think that the Magic Carpet Ride Remix is a real good fast paces song. And the remixes and songs by Len, and other artists fit perfect into this dancing and romancing soundtrack!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun 'cult' album!, October 4, 2006

Whilst watching the movie it came to me how well the score was chosen, it really adds something to the movie. As in most good movies where they pay a little attention to the soundtrack you can't help but notice. Most tracks are fun listening to on their own, but if you've seen and liked the movie it's definitely worth buying. Some here think it's mediocre, to me it's more 'cult' á la the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. It's nothing too heavy or serious, but just good fun. And what's wrong with that? ;-)

3.0 out of 5 stars It's got some good songs., October 24, 2005

I've never seen this movie, but my wife loves this CD, and as a result I've heard it a lot. Some of the songs I could live fine without forever. Others are fun.
No Doubt is a band that could cease to exist without altering my life in the least, and their song on here's about what you'd expect from them. If you like them, you might like this. If not....
"Steal My Sunshine" by Len is a fun little summer ditty with female backing vocals, a weird Aqua-type male vocalist, and a jaunty piano line.
And "Gangster Tripping" by Fatboy Slim is probably the soundtrack's best selection--the only one I really love. It starts with hard looped rapping and bursts into horns and beats and turn-table swishing, and stays hip and danceable throughout.
The rest of the album's songs are, for the most part, a mix of hip-hop-sampling techno acts. Some are decent, but they're not exceptional.
I'd recommend just getting "You've Come a Long Way, Baby," the 1998 Fatboy Slim album that "Gangster Tripping" appears on. But that's just my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprising! Imbruglia should have the single out, August 5, 2000
This review is from: Go: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Go is one of the greatest soundtrack bseides THE BEACH and STIGMATA. i have to admit that Natalie did a brilliant job on the soundtrack, but i am wondering why didn't she release the single as she has not released any new single ever since SMOKE. The track touches and rocks, and if it is brilliant mixed by William Orbit, it would be even greater.

The other tracks, especially LEN and the forth track are some of the best tracks featured, besides NEW by No Doubt.

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Soundtrack!, July 8, 1999
This review is from: Go: Music From The Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This is one of my favorite soundtracks that I have. I love all of the songs on the disk. "Magic Carpet Ride", is my favorite song, even though it is a mix. I also cant get enough of "Troubled by the Way We Come Together" from Natalie Imbruglia. The song is so great and you really need to hear it for yourself. The whole disk is amazing with great songs from BT, Fatboy Slim, and Eagle-Eye Cherry. GO! and buy this disk, you wont regret it.
