First off we got heavy hitters like Jason Becker and Marty Friedman. Nuff Said, These guys could shred a truck full of cheese in just one blazing run. At times I wondered how come the guitars they were playing simply didn't Ignite and Burn in some of the most intense, neo classical, heavy metal,Mind Altering Fret Busting guitar demonstrations, Bach run for the hills, cause these boys are in town to stay!

I also enjoyed the use of very classical beautiful acoustic guitar intro to E.S.P I really thought for complete songship this was the best on the album. And Strangers vocals were twisted and gave me a Phil Anselmo feeling.

But for the greatest track easily is Go Off! This is the mother of all mother guitar smashers and thrashers, it features guitars that sound almost like a computer that went nutz and killed off a country! Very good you don't even have to listen to the samples just order the CD! A must for every Shredder of Every Age! Warning due to intense solo speeds and lightning fast leads the faint of heart, small children and animals need not apply!

These riffs are just that. Nasty. They will thrill, amaze,exhilirate, ... . Admittedly the vocals take a little getting used to, as they are very harsh, but they end up making the tracks even better, such as "X-Ray Eyes" which would not feel quite complete without that scratch/scream at the opening. I think the highlights of Go Off! are better than Cacophony's opening album, Speed Metal Symphony, but Black Cat and Sword of the Warrior are sort of down spots, kind of dull and unexciting. That discontinuity is all that kept Go Off! from a perfect 5 rating. If you want to understand what metal can do, or if you are a guitarist/guitar lover who just wants to drool at talent, listen to the title track. O to have seen them live!!!!! Other plus songs on this great sophomore record are "E.S.P." and "Floating World". Enjoy shrapnel devotees and metal lovers, and keep Jason Becker in your prayers.

Cacophony is what you get when you put young fleet-fingered maestros like Jason Becker and Marty Friedman together. Together, they create some of the most amazing guitar works I've ever heard. However, on Go Off, I was pretty disappointed, vocals-wise. I feel that the style of singing does not suit their songs. In fact, I think they should have just kept it as instrumental pieces !

On 'Black Cat', you can hear clearly how distinct their styles of playing are. Becker employs more speed and aggression in his playing as compared to Marty who puts more emotion and feeling. 'X-Ray Eyes' is a straight-forward speed metal piece with superb riffs and licks. How I crave for more !! The opening solo and the solo that follows it is simply.....undescribable.

Beautifully crafted songs with full of emotional, all incorparated with aggressive metal riffs. A MUST FOR EVERY MALMSTEEN WANNABE OR METAL FREAK !!

I think Cacophony should have admitted right from the start that their music was all about great solos, and the vocals were mere filler. I hear this album, and its predecessor 'Speed Metal Symphony,' and I tend to fast-forward to the solos. After seeing a bootleg clip of Cacophony, I appreciate the vocals so much less, especially since the vocalist seems to be under the impression that he was an Axl Rose or a Sebastian Bach, as he screeched like Samwise Gamgee would if butchered in a slaughterhouse.

To be fair, 'Go Off!' has decent 'real' songs, 'Stranger' and 'Sword of the Warrior.' And although I think 'Speed Metal Symphony' had better instrumentals, the tracks here with vocals in them have better-crafted solos that seem to actually fit, rather than just serve as 'showcase time.'

Highlights to me are the title track, the aforementioned 'real' songs, and the solos especially in 'Black Cat' and 'Floating World.'

I love the oriental textures prevalent everywhere, and the tasteful melodic sense makes this not just a 'shred' album that only guitarists can listen to. Well, at least, it's something for guitarists to listen to when looking for melody, unconcerned with the technical aspects of guitar.

In short, 'Go Off!' is more musically mature than 'Speed Metal Symphony' but you'll still have to tolerate the singing.

This is probably the definitive neoclassical metal album, containing two of its biggest stars, Jason Becker and Marty Friedman. That fact of course, means that 95% of the population is going to classify it as pure drivel. Times have changed and with the unfortunate devaluation of the guitar solo, albums like this just don't get made anymore. I think nowadays, only John Petrucci plays anywhere near the technical complexity of these guys, but of course, Dream Theater is actually trying to write *songs* instead of technical exercises. Then again, if you are buying this album for songwriting ability, you are *really* missing the point. Scratchy hair-metal vocalist Peter Marrino and drummer Dean Castronovo provide solid, steady compansionship to the one-two punch of Becker and Friedman. (They can be found providing solid, steady companionship to any number of Shrapnel artists of the time.) The production, like all other Shrapnel albums, is flat and hideous, designed to showcase the guitarists. The music? Read the title! Reference the first track off _Liquid Tension Experiment_ Volume I, only play it faster and without those sissy keyboards. Let's just say if you aspire to be a metal guitarist, prepare to stop aspiring. And if you haven't ever heard these guys play before, prepare to soil yourself.

This album is the follow up record to the quintessential "Speed Metal Symphony" debut. "Go Off" is very similar in both sound and style, with noticeable improvements in the focus and production of the album.

There are, as in the first release, two instrumental tracks on this record, albeit not as extended, which comes as a bit of a letdown to me, as I always liked Cacophony for their intrumental movements.

Forget all the metal guitar bands you thought were talented because this makes talented look like an ant...young guitar pridigy jason becker and virtuoso marty friedman show how good duel guitar and solos can get on this thrill ride of guitar..2 completely diffrent guitar styles and 2 friggin great guitarist.....I MUST BUY FOR GUITAR FANS!!!!!!

Cacophony was one of the most talented bands ever. Marty Friedman and Jason Beckers playing is amazing. The fact that they think to write the riffs and hypnotizing double guitar solos is amazing. Even the individual guitar solos are great! This album proves that there skill is unmatched. This is one of the most unique albums ever written. Dean castronovo's drums are great too. However Peter Marino's vocals are aweful! But i didn't by the album for singing i bought it for the guitars and i was most definatly NOT dissapointed. Too bad about what happened to Jason Becker....And Marty Friedman will probably never write music quite like this again.

This album and they're first album (speed metal symphony) are essential listening for any guitar player. This is hands down the best speed metal band ever. Even Malmsteen had to brush up on his chops to compete with them.

This album represents Cacophony at their best. The band that perfected the art of Exotic Speed-Metal, recorded only two studio albums to date from 1987-1988. This being the latter of the two is a must listen to for any Cacophony fan !
