See them live!!!,
By Jessi Rose "juliejessirose" (Florida) - See all my reviews

These guys are awesome. I was introduced to them by wandering into their show at a festival in eastern PA. They blew me away, I immediately bought 2 of their albums, including this one. It was my first date with a guy who I dated for about 4 years afterward. The guys gone but the CD is still at the top of my collection. If you like irish rock, THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU!!!

The Best Line-Up & Their Best Abum,

If you're looking for Irish-based music that packs a punch and have had it up to your ears with Enya and the Pogues, hello and welcome to the right place. Grab a Guinness, but don't sit down - The Prodigals would drag you right out of your seat anyway!
This line-up, with the gravelly rough vocals of Ray Kelly, super-fast rock accordian (yes, it's possible!) skills of Gregory Grene, perfect energizing beat of Brian Tracy and the ever persistent, lead-guitar-quality bass guitar talent of Andrew Harkin, will leave you absolutely breathless and wanting more from these guys. I first saw the Prodigals in 1999 when they were promoting this album and the fondest memory of that night was of Ray Kelly literally steaming into the cold night air from the energy he was pouring out (or maybe the beer he was pouring in?). Andrew's bass playing had me memorized and was an inspiration to pick up the bass after 6 years of playing six strings. Gregory Grene had such a sweet, soft voice, in contrast to Ray's gruff style and Brian, playing drums barefoot in 20 degree mountain weather....On top of it all was muic of the like I'd never heard in my entire life in New York. They had me hook, line and sinker. For a great experience, you absolutely need to possess this album...If only to prove to friends that an accordian can be turned into a veritable jig-punk machine.

Go On ----and buy this CD,
By Holly Osberg (Coventry, rhode island United States) - See all my reviews

This CD is so much fun. Almost anyone would love it. The Prodigals are so much fun and really cool guys. They take a traditional song like "Spancil Hill" or "Weile Waile" and make it so much more fun than the original. They also write their own great songs like "alchemy" and "quart of gin", you gotta hear that one.

Cool Irish Tunes,

The Prodigals are BY FAR the best live band I've ever seen! If you can't see them live then by all means enjoy the CD's. Their takes on traditional Irish tunes are wonderful, and their original material is great. The track 'Alchemy' is pure poetry!
