5.0 out of 5 stars highly enjoyable, January 27, 2004

This review is from: Go Sailor (Audio CD)
I love what I've heard from this CD. The majority of the songs are mainly pop (with a small touch of punk tossed in to make it cool). I found out about this CD from a very strange movie that came on Cinemax late one night which played the song "Together Forever In Love". I fell in love with the song instantly, and I knew I had to hear more from the band who created it. And it turns out that it isn't even the best song! A CD packed with great music.

i like most bands on lookout! and this is great. it has people from crimpshrine & tiger trap & i love rose's voice. mostly nice & easy-going. it's not very "punky" like some stuff says, mostly pop. i usually like bands like the casualties & 70s punk, but i really really like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique., February 17, 2010
This review is from: Go Sailor (Audio CD)
This album is extremely distinctive. While it's considered a central album of "twee pop", in fact it doesn't sound quite like anything else. Rose has a voice whose sweetness cuts unbelievably clearly through Amy's dense drums. Most of the lyrics are melancholy (and very clever) while the sound is very happy. I actually don't much like *any* of the other work of *any* of the band members (although they're all widely acclaimed), and yet the combination just has something unique. Catchy yet complex.

Go Sailor was a side project for all three of its members and appears unlikely to ever produce any more music.

Go Sailor is an excellent bay area band with extremely high potential. The songs are bitter ballads juxtaposed with a 'happy' beat. This album is great anytime. The tunes will stick in your head the whole day. "It's a fine day for sailing, let's go for a swim, you don't have to worry that i'll push you in..." FANTASTIC!

4.0 out of 5 stars absolutely fabulous, punk rock, kick a**, October 7, 1999

these girls are the cutest, they know all about the angst of dealing with boys, but they don't let it get to them. Great for dancing, or fighting with your boyfriend. Cuter than Buffy herself

5.0 out of 5 stars ........cute, April 29, 2000

ok... this isn't the most musical genious i have ever seen but is so simple that it is amazing. Before this cd, i was a different person. I was mean to people at school, putting them down for no good reason, and I was unaware of other peoples feelings. After hearing this recording I realized that it is better to just look on the bright side of situations and just be nice all around. To quote Rose - "This is the last time that i'll wish you dead. I think i've decided to like you instead." Thanks!

4.0 out of 5 stars It makes getting dumped fun!, February 18, 1999

Poppy punk trio with soft vocals from Rose. Very Cub-ish, but I think I like GS a little better. Anyone who can not identify with these songs was probably a dork in highschool (like me). Ex-cheerleaders and jocks need not apply.

Perfect pop. RIYL : Cub, Vaselines, Hummingbirds.

Ironic how this album will be perfect as a soundtrack to slash your wrist to. (don't do this at home, kid).
