This is a beautifully photographed book with excellent text.

It focuses on flies that are quick to tie but are proven producers for guides from around the U.S.

I particularly liked the explanation of how the flies originated and why they work. Very clear close-ups of each fly make copying the pattern easier.

You better have this book near your tying desk. There are many kinds of flies for the different waters. Most of them are easy to tye as you know that the guides don't want to spend time to tye many flies. They are simple but effective.
As you read the comments how flies are originated and why they are so effective, you will become a productive fly fisher and a creative tyer.

Format: Paperback
This wonderful book has very clear photographs of just about every fly you could imagine. As a newcomer to fly fishing and learning to tie my own flies this book has become an essential reference book for me. It has something for everybody: beginners will have choices for tying that are easier (or, more sophisticated) than the guide they are working from; and, intermediate and advanced tiers can find new methods or new uses for materials they already have.
