The focus of her book is North American wildlife?dolphins, chipmunks, turtles, and a variety of birds?which is incorporated into blocks the quiltmaker may use for whole quilts or single-block wall hangings. Rolfe teaches an easy method of rotary cutting and straight-line piecing that gives the animals a stylized, folk art look. The full-color illustrations are excellent, as is the quality of the paper. This would be an excellent book to use in introducing teenagers to quiltmaking.

Pieced animals made simple,

Realistic animals are a daunting challenge for most quilters. Margaret Rolfe's technique solves this problem. Her clear instructions and detailed patterns allow you to make fabulous animals. Each animal pattern includes illustrations and instructions for a wall-hanging including the animal. There are also pictures of other finished quilts using the animals. My first attempt at using this book was successful, and has inspired me to use more animal motifs in my quilts.
