Spare and Lovely,

This review is from: Go Your Way (MP3 Download)
"You Go Your Way" is spare and yearning, with no vibrato and muted accompaniment. Its lyrics dovetail well with its sound; Briggs sings the simple wishes of a lover who hopes her partner is happy, wherever he may be, though she knows full well he might never find his way back to her.
One caveat: the recording itself leaves a lot to be desired, badly muffling Briggs' voice and her accompaniment. I am still looking for a better copy, if one exists. Nevertheless, "You Go Your Way" has become my favorite travel song. If leaving one place for another had a melody, this melody would be it. |
