Great live album from a great band.,

This is a great live album. The sound quality is awesome and all the songs are performed to a T. The songs sound even heavier then the studio recordings because of the live energy that's captured. I was a Fu fan before this album and I was reticent to buy the live album because I didn't want to waste money on songs I already had, but it is worth every penny.

No Weak @ss Symphony On These Discs....,

I have a feeling if Iggy & The Stooges were born and bread in Southern Cal circa 2000, they would sound something....if not exactly like this. How music can be so in your face yet so laid back at the same time is beyond the comprehension of my 5 senses. Friggin' cranked up, fuzzed out & balls through the wall guitar riffs. Ultra-cool lyrics delivered with sweat & passion. And, a rhythm section that flat out kicks @ss & takes no prisoners. I swear on my vinyl copies of "Kiss Alive", "Unleashed In The East" &"Strangers In The Night", Fu Manchu has finally reached the summit of rock's Mount Olympus. When the "idols" of my youth release a live album with a freakin' wimpy symphony, it's great to see newer bands that can still "respect the rock" and kick out the jams. Add to cart ASAP.

Nothing really captures the impact of the band like the real thing. If you dont own a Fu record yet, this is the place to start.

If you like simple stripped down rock with a souther california edge to it, it doesn't get better than this. Go For It has all their best songs, and they're performed perfectly. This is two cd's from the best band there is, for the price of one. Even if it cost twice as much it would still be worth it. The cover of Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" is a gem. Next time you're in the car, pop in fu manchu and it will change your life.

Its what a live album should be...,

Anytime I listen to a live album, the main reason for its success is how much it makes me want to actually go and SEE the band live. The energy and power present in albums like the Ramones "It's Alive", Motorheads "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" and Cheap Tricks "At Budokan" all make me wish I was at one of the shows those albums capture, and if a live album is worth your time, it'll give you that kind of feeling. Like you wish you were at one of the shows it was recorded from.
In that respect "Go For It... Live" is a great live album, because it really captures the energy of a good live show and it really really really makes me want to go see an actual Fu Manchu show. If you're anything like me, you'll play it loud, bang your head, and then go out and buy a Big Muff pedal for your guitar.

Double Live Bongzo!,
By Woodrow (Brooklyn, NY United States) - See all my reviews

This is my favorite Fu Manchu album, next to We Must Get Baked. I'm probably in the minority but I find most of Fu Manchu's records a mixed bag. They always have a few killer songs and some that I find pretty dull. Like all great 70's band, the double live album is the real test. People wonder why bands don't do live albums anymore. The answer is simple - bands today cannot play. At best they can recreate their album but cannot add any extra jam value or energy. Go For It has both in spades! Turn it up and spark it up!
Check out Mighty High...In Drug City.

Fu Manchu was the first band I got really into, and that was about 2 or 3 years before this album was released. I knew all their songs and had been anticipating this live CD ever since I had heard of it being put out on July 22, 2003. After waiting for nearly 6 months, I bought it that very day. I was not dissappointed, I was blown out of the water. I can't even describe it, you just have to hear it. Best live act ever. No joke. Fu Manchu will rock you.
