Sturdy, adjustable, and creaky?,

This review is from: GoFit Ultimate Core Wobble Board with Adjustable Base (Sports)
I'm a big fan of using a little bit of technology to work out. It's always the little things that keep you from the consistent exercise necessary to see results [for example: push-up handles prevent wrist irritation. GoFit and others have these].I got this wobble board for my birthday to help improve my balance and lower core muscles for a couple of sports/activities I thought it would benefit. At first I couldn't go a full second on the pivot, but in only a few days of occasional use (it was probably more time between sessions than actual use that mattered) I became good enough to stay up 10s+. This board has a threaded pivot that can be turned to increase/decrease the pivot height, so it'll be interesting to see how much difficulty that causes. The board is smaller than I had expected, but it's really not a big deal--appropriate size for standing on two feet. My one complaint is that there are occasional loud creaks that I assume are happening with the threads/base. This is one of those "little things" that might stop me from using it, because I'd rather not disturb the downstairs neighbors. I'll report back if I can pinpoint the cause; if it is truly the board and not my floor, stay at 4 stars. 190lbs. The uncertainty is because my floors are pine wood, which by the way gets dented when you the board. I just bought a cheap $3 marble tile from Home Depot to put underneath it. Make sure it's matte so you don't slip everywhere, and then put a pillowcase on top of it to suppress the sound of striking the ground with the rim.

It's excellent on it's own, but you get the most out of it if you refer to the DVD included in the package. Unlike the prior reviewer, we haven't had a problem with creaking. But then again, we live on the ground floor, use this on carpet, and I haven't tried extending/unscrewing the base yet. It has no problem carrying my weight (260 lbs) and I find it to be challenging, but not too much so at the easiest level. The base support in the middle can be unscrewed to allow for greater difficulty though at this point, I haven't done so and won't until I've mastered the beginning. This was originally purchased to improve my spouse's and my balance, but it can do so much more. Exercises in the DVD show how one can improve flexibility and prevent injury, particularly for runners, with this balance board. It is really solid. The board itself is wood with some anti-sliding footing on top. The base and threading is plastic, but appears to be very well made. I'm usually afraid of standing or sitting on some things as I'm concerned they'll break, but this doesn't worry me at all. I actually can't think of a bad thing to say about it. Someone might say they'd like it to be bigger, but, if you do that, it won't be as effective or totally ineffective with some of the exercises. It's what I had hoped and better due to the DVD. Cheers and Happy New Year (2010)!

Poorly made-- don't buy it,

This board is made of solid materials, but obviously the quality control guy was off duty at the factory on the day that the item I received was made. The sticker is off center and the laquer finish has gooey drips. But more importantly, the plastic spindle clicks back and forth when you wobble on it--which is what you are intended to do. This is distracting and likely signifies an early demise for the board. Now I must decide whether it's worth the time and expense to return it...
