Mostly the thickness of wire they use to construct their crates. Remember, the frame wire is the most important and the lower the wire number, the thicker the wire gauge. This crate has everything I needed for the new puppy. He is smart, active and a biter. I set this up indoors as a space for him in his wire pen. He can see everything (and I can see him), but when he needs to sleep he can. I tried to put a covering over the top for more security for him but he leaped up and pulled the fabric through. I just let it be and he doesn't seem to mind that it it open. He does have another crate that is more enclosed for bedtime. It is easy to clean up and unless he's Superman, he can't bite his way out!!! Overall I'm very happy with this crate.
