The innovative, ultra-lite GoLite Shangri-La 2 backcountry shelter delivers serious weather protection for 4-season use and unparalleled space-to-weight ratio with superb durability. It can be used by itself, with the Shangri-La 2 Floor, or with the Shangri-La 2 Nest inner bug tent (note that it doesn't come with a floor). Large enough for two sleepers, this ultra-lite dual-peak design can be pitched with your trekking poles, over paddles or ski poles, or hang it from branches via its top loops.

The reflective stake out loops keep you from tripping in the middle of the night and the hydrophilic thread at the seams expand when wet--sealing the seams and eliminating the need for liquid sealant. The Shangri-La 2 provides 49 square feet of protected interior space. Dual roof vents allow air to circulate and combat condensation build-up. Six Y-stakes, a stake sack, and tent stuff sack are included.

The ultra-lite waterproof SilLite fabric of the Shangri-La 2 sheds both rain and snow, making the Shangri-La 2 surprisingly weather-resistant. Silicone-elastomere fabrics allow their fibers to stretch without separating or breaking, and this makes them stronger than conventional PU-coated (or PU/siliconized) fabrics for a far lower weight. Silicone impregnation means that the silicone completely permeates the fibers and also makes the fabric hydrophobic, so it doesn't soak up water and gain weight.

A great tent for the light weight backpacker. Pros - the tent is light and folds up small. The set up is a little tricky because you are dealing with stakes to hold the tent down. This is more of a rain fly than a tent. There is NO BOTTOM for this tent. They sell a separate bottom for this model or you can buy the bug-screen insert that fits perfectly inside this tent. You can use trekking-poles to hold it up the tent, however this sucks because once you go inside the tent in limits the amount of space you have and you are always fearful of knocking down one or both of the trekking-poles and down comes they tent with you in it. I like to use the corner loops and tie the tent to a tree using string or rope. This way you have more room and you can roll over in the night without worry of bringing down the house. What I don't like about the tent besides the trekking pole thing is you need to stake down the tent to have it work properly and you really need to be in a place that has some place to hang the tent. Another words this tent is not very useful if you are in a place that has a hard ground where stakes don't work and/or a place that has no trees to hang up the tent. One more thing, it really helps to buy a light weight tarp for this tent to sit on. My 6'-8" friend used this tent for five nights while hiking in the Sespe wilderness in 2010. It was the first time he had a back packing tent that actually fit him. This tent can easily and comfortably hold two people and two backpacks, or one giant person like SHAQ.
