I cancelled a Hero 3+ Black order to buy this for $249 .... I sold the wifi remote on ebay for $60 and the Surf mount for $12 making this a $180 camera. New firmware eliminates most issues. 60 minute battery life is fine for me. Who watched 60+ minutes of themselves doing somethng again anyway? This is for a quadcopter that will only fly for 10-15 minutes at a time anyway. Wasabi batteries for $19.00. This is a no brained. The only advantage for me for the + is it is sharper ... but not $150 sharper. All those huge video formats are a waste. 1080/60 is as good as you can watch in most cases anyway. 720/120 is crazy good frame rate.

I am really very disappointed with my purchase; the camera works fine, everything came in correctly, but the WIFI doesn't work. Is there any way to have some payback??

Ok, I've had this little camera about a week. I've been putting up reviews on my YouTube (byrdo444) and Vimeo (/stephendiaz) channels and blog, google "stephendiaz" for more in depth video reviews coming out every few days.
So far I've done a low-light test, audio test, 4K video screen grabs, 2K high speed test...and so far I'm vERY impressed! I sold my Hero2 to buy this camera and I'm so glad I upgraded. They say on the site that this camera is 2X more powerful and that is an understatement! It is amazing. Especially the low-light and audio difference! Go find my videos for proof!

Nice improvements from the original GoPro that I had.
The WiFi feature is an interesting idea (helps to aim the cam and confirm video coverage)... but definitely kills the battery fast.

This is a really great camera that takes clear video and photos.
I got it for Christmas and I've been using it very often. It works great underwater and out of water.
At first I thought it would be difficult to use but after skimming through the manual it really isn't that hard.
The only thing that I dislike about this camera is the battery power. The battery will die after maybe an hour of use so make sure you buy extra batteries!
I highly recommend this camera! You just have to make sure you keep up with the updates and I'm sure it will be fine.

This is a super light camera that I bought to surf with. It's waterproof in the case and I was excited to put it on and go. The attachment that comes with the camera asks you to either drill into the surfboard and mount or stick it on. I'm certainly not going to drill into my board so I'll stick it on when I can get out there (haven't tried it yet). The quality is wonderful and I've been using it all the time since I received it. It's easy to operate, point and click.

There are soooo many attachments for this thing too! You can head mount, jaw mount (jaw as in clamp, not mandibula), bike mount, underwater mount, pole mount, you name it mount and all sorts of other accoutrements for this thing.

There are 2 drawbacks: There is no view screen on the camera, so you can't tell what you're filming just from pointing. You can, however, connect with your smartphone and it'll show you what the camera is viewing. The fact that there is no view from the camera itself is not hindering. If you just point it in the general direction you'll film what you want. The BIGGEST con to this camera is the battery life or lack of. The battery is eaten in no time. I came on back to Amazon after about a week of using the camera and bought Wasabi Power Battery (2-Pack) and New Charger for GoPro HD HERO3+, HERO3 and GoPro AHDBT-201, AHDBT-301, AHDBT-302
Sold by Blue Nook for $23.99 and now I have 3 batteries. I have to say I think I need another three more if I wanted to film for a weekend without having a charger nearby (camping for instance).

I would positively recommend this camera!

Camera is great and has many usable settings as well as settings I'd probably never use but good to know its available. It's multi-functional and user friendly once familiar with the functions. I did however have to buy an additional battery. The one that came with my go pro only lasted about 20 mins. So not cool! I hope this new battery works better than that!

The video review is pretty in depth, with test footage from the camera as well as wifi and audio tests. Overall my experience with the Hero 3 black edition has been good. Firmware updates and newer apps have fixed a lot of the problems, but battery life, battery drain when off, and random resets can be an issue. Also note that even with the USB to 3.5mm audio adapter and a rode videomic pro, the audio recorded by the Gopro hero 3 isn't amazing. If you want crystal clear sound out of your videos, you might want to invest in a audio field recorder.

Also if you plan to shot protune raw on the hero 3 black edition, remember that it requires quite a bit of work in post to get the footage into usable shape. It does make it much easier to match DSLR footage as well as other cameras, but you'll have to play around with the gopro software to get things look the way you want them.

both batteries (camera, remote) didn't hold charge for more than 20 minutes. Tried to charge multiple times.
Camera is great but afraid was overaged and sitting on some shelf for way too long.
Great deal turned to just fair deal after having to go out and buy new batteries for a "new" camera
$70 later.
More unhappy with Amazon then the Go-Pro for sure....
