Twice as much to go wrong,
By A Customer
This review is from: GoVideo DDV3110 Dual Deck 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR (Electronics)
It's a nice concept. But on our unit, the left deck wouldn't track, so we couldn't watch rented movies from that side. And although the right deck played beautifully, it recorded only picture -- no sound. Two defective decks in one box could be an extreme coincidence -- or it could indicate some problems with component quality.

I would be very careful before buying any Go-Video products, for when you have them for a few years and they need repair they are very hard to work with in getting them fixed. I have had 2 Go-Video Dual Deck VCR's and had to throw both of them away cause I couldn't get them fixed, even from Go-Video, they don't carry the replacement parts.

SonicBlue confirmed that some of their GoVideo DDV3120 Dual Deck 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR had some clock problems, but they were not aware of any clock problems on their DDV3110 model although some other reviews I read on both the DDV3110 and DDV3120 said they had clock problems on both models. I have had no problem with the clock (and the daylight savings works fine too) and everything else also works well except the commercial advance does not always work, and you can not skip commercials on old recordings that you make a new copy of with your GoVideo VCR. It's nice to be able to record something from the television while also being able to watch another video on the other VCR drive. Assuming your VCR has no clock problems, I would recommend this VCR.

I love that vcr, got as a present about 5 months ago and really happy with it. It easy to use. Great copymaker. You can record from TV on one deck and at the same time watch video on another. The remote control controls everything. I locked all the buttons on VCR so my toddler cannot play with them and cotrol remote becomes really handy. The quality of copys are very good, but if you have a bad original tape - you cannot expext a good copy....

I have purchased 2 of these plastic and metal boxes called dvd(slash) vhs player...Notice the slash because thats what you will want to do to your wrists for being stupid enough to buy a GO Video FROM CIRCUIT CITY. On the plus side..the unit comes with a plug cord long enough to form a noose. On the negative it will not work longer than 52 minutes before telling you the disc isn't recognized. Also don't worry about rewinding the VHS as it will eat the tape as it plays so there won't be any pesky tape to rewind. Also forget returning it to CIRCUIT CITY as they will tell you to mail it to the company, any but CIRCUIT CITY. CIRCUIT CITY knows they sold you junk and now it is YOUR FAULT. Also they will ask you to leave CIRCUIT CITY hopefully before some poor sucker saw the problems you're having with CIRCUIT CITY..Stars???they need a negative as I give GO-VIDEO and CIRCUIT CITY -8 stars.thats MINUS 8 STARS. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED..DON'T BE STUPID..

VCR's may not be the hottest of items now with the DVD age alive and strong, but I have always found a need for a VCR and after going through a half-dozen or so in the last 10 years I finaly found one that I am very happy with. The GoVideo DDV3110 Dual Deck is a graet addition to my electronics family.
I can understand why some aren't happy with it, yes it has trouble copying some of the newer VCR tapes that have the copy protection on it, but so do most if not all VCR's and DVD players you hook to any other device. That is the point of copy write protection. There are machines that do that but you can't expect this one to as well. It is great though in taht it's HI Fi, has a lot of great options like slow speed shuddling, auto tracking, commercial skip, indexing so you can easily find where you started recording a program, one touch recording, you can have two tapes in at once so you never have to worry about a tape running out and so much more. This is a great machine and one of the best purchases I have ever made. I own a lot of VCR tapes full of programs and various things I have recorded over the years. Now with a machine like this I can put a lot of the tapes together and save space as well as hook up all my other devices into it through the various A/Vholes. It's really a fine piece of equipment. I haven't had a problem or complaint with it yet. Sure it would be great if it did record stuff you rent from a video store but very few vcrs do. Why would this one be any differnet? Just because it has a one touch recording option from one tape to another doesn't mean it should do something that is illegal. Bottom line is, this is the perfect vcr to replace all the vcrs in the house once and for all. You only need this one as it will fill all the needs and in the best quality a VCR has to offer. If you are looking for a VCR to copy those tapes you rent from the video store then yes perhaps you should avoid this but if you want it for anything else that a VCR can offer in copying and watching needs this is the only one to ever get. You will be quite happy with all the options it has to offer and the ease of use.

I purchased this VCR with express purpose to make and reproduce audition tapes. What I found is that this VCR is not only simple to set up and use but also produce awesome quality copies.
I wish I had know about this product sooner. I am going to get another one. I highly recomend this VCR.

I have had this GoVideo DDV3110 VCR for close to a year now, and, frankly, I'm surprised at the number of negative reviews here. So far I have had no complaints. This unit has performed flawlessly and is very easy to use for my purposes.

Go Video Dual Deck VCRs,

My first GOVIDEO was a GV6250. My receipt says I bought it in October 1998. Today for the first time it ate a tape and the tape is stuck in deck two. Until today the machine has performed perfectly. It was in the grand kids room for their use.
My second GOVIDEO was a GV3020x. I bought it because the GV6250 was not stereo HI FI. I thought I really needed stereo. I bought it May 1999. Still working fine. One of my kids has it now. They don't use it much, but it still works great for them. My third GOVIDEO was A DDV9450. Got it sometime in late 2000. A week ago The recording started getting bad. I cleaned the head but it made no difference. The play back started going bad also. That is when I took the GV6250 away from the grand kids. The DDV9450 was used almost daily. I recorded programs for my working kids and programs I was not able to watch because they came on to late at night. The grand kids used to spend all day watching tapes when they were young. These three machines have worked perfectly for 11, 10 and 9 years respectively. I have gotten my moneys worth and have no regrets for buying them. I have not experienced any of the problems other folks have listed. I only came upon this site because I was looking for a replacement GO VIDEO Dual Deck. I love them. And yes, I do know about DVDs and have two DVD players. But I still like the old technology and think it still has uses in certain instances. |
