Hello All,

I purchased this unit as a replacement for a COBY TFDVD7100 Portable DVD Player; the Coby unit would NOT PLAY anything other than PRE-RECORDED DVD's and CD's. All my homemade DVD's caused the player to go into meltdown mode no matter which brand DVD I tried in it. I attempted to play JVC, Fuji Film, TDK and Ridata DVD's and each time the player would freeze-up. Now for the good news, this new Go.Video player will play ANYTHING I throw at it! I took a sampling of my DVD's into a local store FIRST before I purchased this unit to see if they would all play and, they did! This alone is one VERY FAVORABLE feature of this unit let alone the fact that it has an 8.4-inch screen.

I looked high and low before deciding to purchase this unit and I do so because it is unstoppable with what I put to it. Another selling point is that this unit has INPUTS so that it will double as a monitor for your video camera. With all the features and things that this player does I think you will be hard pressed to find something that does more for less.

Our travel time in the mornings are long so I bought the dp8440 model for the car. My only complaint is the cover that holds the dvd's in place has very flimsy plastic and that was the first to go. I have had this dvd player for a while and if it can stand Nemo and Care Bears 4000 times it's worth the money. It has been dropped countless times, stepped on etc... still runs. I can't tell you the pain my 5 year old has inflicted on this player. Good stuff.

I just got this, but it has a good picture, good volume, good color. I went and looked at others at Best Buy and I like the picture on this better and it is a great price for a 8 inch screen. I don't know about the durability yet, but it seems to be a good deal over all.

Very nice quality image - "big" screen (for the size). No issues with playing DVDs - very nice.
Haven't tried to display photos yet, but on the music I tried it was hit and miss as far as playback - sometimes sounding pretty good, and other times dragging and hanging up.
Over all though I'm pleased. I didn't get it to play music, so no big deal

Just got this player from Amazon for $158. The picture was sharp and clear, nice truth color, built in speaker was decent and housing is rugged as advertised. Previously owned a 10.5 inch Polaroid, I returned due to picture was not clear and also having problem of reading JPEG files. Strongly recommend this GoVideo DP8240 if you can get it for under $200.

I bought this from Amazon.com, and it was DOA out of the box (no fault of Amazon of course). Would power up, put in a DVD and it would try to spin up the disc and then say 'no disc' Tried several DVDs, no go. Returned it back using Amazon's return service today. Also, the player did not seem to have the 'ruggedized' outer rubber strip depicted on the edges of the screen portion of the player (see the photo which shows this black strip when the lid is closed, around the outer edge)- perhaps missing in assembly?

Fulfilled all expectations, Clear picture, versatile plug configurations, intuitive operation.
Neutral on battery life...

I got in at the $160 mark + with a promo cert. of $20 so I thought I was getting a good deal.
I am very pleased so far...DVD and CD. I like the option of hooking up other analog ie camcorder...vcr etc. I have not tried these yet.
I hooked this unit up to a recently purchased Boomtube (speakers) (Amazon..currently $35...while supplies last) and WOW ...nice.
I have a disability so this unit makes it easier to test etc.
The inside disc cover is strangely cheap looking but I treat these things with care and it should be ok. The remainder of the unit looks very good and sturdy.
8.4" IMO is just the right size for real portability and viewing...along with the price. Price is quite high with an increase in screen size. Prices however are falling as I write :)

We bought four of these units. Three are working great. One needed service after only a few weeks. They have had the unit for four months and I still do not have a replacement.

Simple. This unit plays everything, everywhere, no problems! This is the 3rd brand Ive tried and is the cats meow. My 2 year old grandson can't hurt it. Works in the truck 4wheeling. Plays on the boat in 6 footers. Took it to elk camp, got a lot of flack on day 1, day 3 the party was in my tent, watching wyoming cowboy football highlights. Plays DVD, crap the kid burns, everything.A+
