Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Easy to set up and even easier to operate, the GoVideo DV2150 combines a full-featured progressive scan DVD player to handle your movies and music--including MP3 files stored on CD-R/RW--with a four-head hi-fi stereo VCR to play your existing videocassettes and record new programs. The functional blend makes the DV2150 a space-saving wonder, as it offers the footprint of a single unit while ensuring high-quality playback for DVD, DVD-RW, DVD+R/RW, CD, CD-R/RW, and VHS formats.

Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the DV2150 stands ready to deliver the full potential of your commercial DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. Even without an HD-ready set, users can set the component-video outputs to support interlaced video, which helps minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible TVs.

The model's four-head VCR, meanwhile, delivers smooth slow-motion play (forward and reverse) and clear still-frame images, while the hi-fi sound records and plays back stereo audio tracks. If you route the stereo output to an AV receiver, you can even enjoy four-channel (left, center, right, and monaural surround) Dolby Pro Logic mixes from TV and Dolby-encoded videocassettes. Other convenient VCR features include eight-event, one-year programming; a built-in 181-channel tuner; and auto clock and channel set.

In the DVD audio realm, the DV2150 includes a digital coaxial audio output that connects directly to a full-featured A/V receiver. Once connected, you can listen to enveloping Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel home theater signals through a surround-sound speaker system. If you don't have a surround receiver, you can instead use the two sets of left/right RCA analog audio outputs (one each for the DVD player and VCR) and channel the audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo TVs. The sound is still full bodied in the latter case thanks to the 3D Surround function, which simulates the surround sound experience through a two-speaker setup.

Front-panel audio/video inputs accommodate camcorders and game consoles, while the unit's JPEG picture CD playback lets you watch slideshows of your digital photos. Further connectivity stems from the component, S-video, composite, and RF video outputs, which make the DV2150 compatible with almost any TV. The combo unit even lets you watch a DVD or listen to a CD while recording a TV show, and you can always take advantage of AutoPlay, which bypasses DVD menus (and associated ads and trailers) to take you right to the start of your movies. Additional DVD features include custom bookmarking and a zoom function.

The DV2150 measures 17 by 3.6 by 10 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and a 90-day warranty on labor.

This unit, has good picture quality, and sound...It is okey for your non videophile friends..As of 12/21/05,the unit can be modified,to play all regions...After i say this i am sure this will change...The mod imformation is on google ,and only involves settings, via your remote...Go video has not proven to be very reliable...Buy with caution....Please make sure you buy from a retailer that has a good refund/return/exchange policy...I purchased the unit as a gift...

2.0 out of 5 stars Cannot be used as a VCR, April 22, 2006

Bought 2 from Fry's on April 17, 2006.

Must return since cannot be used as a VCR because the clock jumps
30 seconds in a random direction every time the unit is turned on
or off. This includes when a program is timer recorded.

It isn't one defective unit as both do the same thing.

Calling customer support is a joke because one gets an automated
menu with no access to a real person. None of the automated
menu intems refer to the timer problem.

Tried writing to the e-mail address, but received no answer after
3 days.

All the other features seem to work as advertized.

1.0 out of 5 stars DVD stopped working, April 18, 2006

After less than 2 years, the VCR works fine - but then I've used it maybe 3 times. The DVD part tells me bad disc or no disc, and I cannot get any information about repair centers, either online or by phone. The Customer Service Center is apparently permanently closed. I know this is a cheapie, but I expected more from it. My Panasonic DVD-only is still working fine after 6 years. Don't buy Go Video, unless you're prepared to replace it every couple years.
