Everything is very compact, feels sturdy and well made.

Now one cool thing about this (and many other Goal Zero units) is that you can daisy chain additional solar panels together to charge your Sherpa 100 even faster.

During the course of the long weekend, I charged a laptop, DSLR camera, several cell phones, and iPad.

As the founder of Ultimate Survival Tips (look us up on Google)... I see a lot of alternative energy survival and emergency gear / charging solutions... But honestly, most of them don't work very well... or at all... Especially when you really need them.

I won't mention any names, but every other big name portable solar charging solution that I have tried has failed in our testing... UNTIL I discovered Goal Zero.

I recently spent 40 days doing survival training and needed packable solar charging system that would keep my cameras and iPhone/s alive in the field so that I could communicate and shoot video... and my Goal Zero Sherpa 100 did just fine.

The Sherpa 100 Kit includes the Sherpa 100 charger with removable AC inverter AND the Nomad 20 foldable and packable solar panel. I won't get into ALL of the ridiculously well thought out aspects of this package but I will say that this guy works and does charge up to full in 10 - 20 hours of direct sunlight.

You will want to reposition the panel every hour or so to capture direct sun rays for fastest charging.

Honestly, I want my Sherpa to charge up full in a day so I will be buying a second Nomad 20 Solar Panel soon. This should do it.

Now with this unit... you always know how you are doing with regards to charging and how much power you have left in the until because of the front LCD screen that reports the percentage full.

As far as outputs there are 2 super efficient USB ports (should charge an iPhone 6-8 times per full charge), a 12V port that takes a car cigarette lighter adapter... and there is even a direct DC port for laptops (many laptop adapters are included in this package). Did I say this until was well thought out?

One note...

Let me start by explaining what the Sherpa 100 Solar recharging Kit is NOT. It is not an inexpensive novelty item, like one of those little solar panels with a cheap battery pack you might find in a department store or "Gifts for Dad" sections. The Sherpa 100 is intended as a true portable power supply. Goal Zero markets several models ranging from light duty to heavy duty. The Sherpa 100 is considered medium duty. The difference among the models is that a light duty model is meant to charge or provide a little power to a phone or GPS. The heavy duty models such as the Yeti 400 and 1250 are intended to provide power to a laptop, TV, emergency lights and even a small refrigerator.

The Sherp 100 falls into the mid-size class, which also includes the Sherpa 50 and Yeti 150. The Sherpa 100 is marketed as a power pack while the Yeti is advertised as a "solar generator." They are intended for a tablet, laptop, DSLR camera and lights. These products are all available individually, but of course if you want to do solar charging you need to purchase a panel, or just buy the kit.

What I have is the Shaerpa 100 kit, which includes:
* The Sherpa 100 Power Pack
* Nomad 20 Solar Panel
* AC Wall Charger
* 12V Adapter
* AC Inverter
* Sherpa Laptop Tips (these are laptop adapter tips, NOT a tip book)

Most of the cables should be self-explanatory. The laptop tips fit some major brands as follows:
* Asus Tip: 5.5
* Dell Tip: 7.4
* HP Tip: 7.4
* IBM Tip: 5.5 & 8
* Lenovo Tip: 5.5 & 8
* Panasonic Tip: 5.5
* Sony Tip: 6
* Toshiba Tip: 5.5

There is NO tip for the MacBook!!! You would need to plug it into the Sherpa with the AC adapter.

Everything is very compact, feels sturdy and well made. I like the tri-fold design of the panel itself because it not only allows more adjustment to catch sunlight but because it folds up into a shape that fits in my backpack.

I bought the kit because (among other less power specific reasons) I wanted to be able to power my gaming laptop away from an outlet. So far, the inverter/battery combination can keep my laptop's battery at 100% for around 3 hours.

Charging the battery with the panel in ideal sunlight takes somewhere around 6 hours, maybe a little longer. I haven't been able to test whether or not the panel can keep the battery from draining while my laptops in use; i'd guess it will slowly drain. Maybe giving me 6 hours of power before exhausting the kit. At this point I plan on getting an additional kit (Sherpa 100, Inverter, and Nomad 20). And maybe down the line, to add balance and flexibility, purchasing another nomad 20. That would be ideal.

I'm very happy with this kit. Cool design, functions as advertised. Should be fun going into music festival season.

The only letdown for me is the power inverter; it's not enough to power on a portable vacuum. It's only capable of sending 100 watts.

For any tech/gadget lover, for camping, or just having portable power versatility on the go, this product can be very handy to have around.

I own LOTS of those much cheaper USB power banks, but this powering device has more versatility and is a "luxury" version.

You can charge anything that takes USB, charge your laptop, and even includes handy AC inverter/standard plug. I just wish the AC could provide more power.

When powered on, the LED lights look very cool and high-tech (the USB ports light up BLUE - the Laptop port lights up ORANGE) and the plug only fits certain ports so there should be no mix ups.

Pros:
- Have POWER anywhere!!
- Charge your laptop easily with the included tips VERY CONVENIENT! Love having spare backup battery for my laptop on the go! It charged both my ASUS laptops fine with the "5.5 tip". (you don't want to lose the manual because the plugs just have numbers on them; you have to refer to the guide to see which number goes with which manufacture)
- 2 USB ports (provides 2.1A! - Excellent for charging tablets/smartphones FAST! the USB ports have to be lit blue to be sending power)
- Battery Level Display
- Flashlight
- Inverter included
- 12v Car Adapter (green) included for using cigarette car devices without your car!
- Includes Solar Power charging (Nomad 20) for recharging this device (Sherpa 100)and the Nomad itself can send power via USB too.
