5.0 out of 5 stars Mary has indeed done it again...Loved it!
Oh my! I loved it! I finished this book in 2 days!!! I was lucky enough to be chosen to have an advance read of this book prior to publication release. Mary has delivered again! I stayed up late on day two because I had to see if Annette and Pee Wee got back together! I guess you will have to read it yourself to find out. If you read the "God Aint" books you know Jade...

2.0 out of 5 stars Time to end this series.
It took me no less than a week to read the first 3 books because they were so good. But this book was terrible. I couldn't get into it because it was just so boring. All this mess with Jade is getting tiresome and the fact that Annette continues to befriend her and Rhonda is beyond me. I was actually really excited about Peewee leaving Annette seeing what a ridiculous...

Oh my! I loved it! I finished this book in 2 days!!! I was lucky enough to be chosen to have an advance read of this book prior to publication release. Mary has delivered again! I stayed up late on day two because I had to see if Annette and Pee Wee got back together! I guess you will have to read it yourself to find out. If you read the "God Aint" books you know Jade needs a beat down....well aint nothing changed. I have to say there are some scenes and I mean I was LOL and hollering and they were the funniest ever! Juat wait until you read this book. Oh lawd that book was good. I could not put it down. I would have gotten finished quicker if I had more time! I hate finishing so quick because now I have to wait longer for the next one! The way Mary describes scenes, people and emotions are the best ever. The characters conversations are so colorful and funny. I swear I laugh so much and am amazed at some of them. The comments Scary Makes are so darn funny. I swear I want to meet her! HA! You must get this book! You will not be disappointed. It's a must add to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars God Ain't Through Yet, June 6, 2010

This review is from: God Ain't Through Yet (Hardcover)
I truly loved it! God Ain't Through Yet was a a real page-turner, and a fantastic read. This book took Annette, Pee Wee, Rhoda and Jade exactly where I need them to be. Annette got paid back for cheating on her husbhand Pee Wee; Pee Wee cheated on Annette partially as pay back, but emotionally he needed to find if the grass was greener on the other side and if an exotic flavor was what was missing in his life. Jade, bless her sick phycotic soul, was finally on the receiving end of torment and pain, if only briefly. I re-read her beat-down 3-times because it was long overdue and it felt dam good. As usual, she bounced back because that is what the "Bride of Satan", (as Annette called her), has to do until she's medicated, locked up, or stopped permanently. Her 5-time murderess Mama Rhoda, should have had her head examined a long time ago. Lil' Charlotte also has the makings to become a lil Bitch. I look forward to her antics in future books. I love the way Mary Monroe weaves the story and the characters togther. They feel so real, and so believable. I could not put this book down. I finished it in 2 days, and now feel the need to re-read it, to better digest the characters. I can't wait to find out what Mary Monroe and "God" are working on next.

5.0 out of 5 stars God Ain't Through Yet, July 27, 2010
This review is from: God Ain't Through Yet (Hardcover)
Mary Monroe has returned with another great book in the "God" series. Annette Goode-Davis is back fresh off her sordid affair in the previous book and with a new body courtesy of her weight loss!! Only this time Annette is in for a shock when her long time husband PeeWee leaves her for "Little Leg" Lizzie, an old schoolmate of theirs. Annette flashes back and explains how that fateful day in her kitchen occurred when PeeWee and Lizzie announced he was leaving Annette; and Annette proceeded to "whoop" some behinds (lol). Then Annette brings us to the present and how she is coping with PeeWee leaving, his new woman and her new "man". Then there is her ongoing battle with Rhoda's evil daughter Jade and her own pre-teen daughter Charlotte is getting a little wild. Annette has a lot of drama on her hands!

This story is filled with humor and colorful characters such as my personal fave "Scary" Mary the old madam with bad make up and a crooked wig (LMAO), Annette's fiesty Muh'Dear, "Little Leg" Lizzie and the always intersting Rhoda and Jade. This book was great and I look forward to more from Mary Monroe!!

4.0 out of 5 stars I May Be Down...But I Ain't Out!!!, June 13, 2010

Annette Goode Davis has suffered many trials and tribulations in her lifetime, but she has always come out on top. She married Pee Wee, her childhood friend, they have a daughter, and she has a great job. During one of the dark moments in Annette's life, she thought Pee Wee was having an affair because he was distant toward her. But when the attention of younger man causes Annette to step outside of her marriage, it isn't long before she recognizes the mistake she has made. After disclosing to Pee Wee the truth about her affair, he forgives her and they begin to repair their marriage. In spite of salvaging their marriage, Annette's nightmare has come true. Nevertheless, Annette is a survivor and she will get through this.

GOD AIN'T THROUGH YET is the fifth installment of the God series. Although the novel can be read as a stand alone, I recommend reading the previous books in order to get the full effect of the characters and story lines. I always enjoy reading Mary Monroe's God series. The characters are well-developed, full of vitality and humor. The story lines pack a powerful punch, occupying the reader from the beginning to end. There's always a message in each novel and the message I received from this novel is God continues to work through us. When we feel everything and everyone has let us down, He never changes or disappoints. I anxiously await what the author has in store for her readers in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much has been said, October 27, 2011
This review is from: God Ain't Through Yet (Hardcover)
So much has been said about God Ain't Through Yet, that I just wanted to rate it as a very good read!!!

It is a very good read a pageturner.

One that was so hard for me to put down at times .

One that had so many emotions.

There were times I was actually talking to the book.

Giving it a high five. There were times I wanted to cry for the characters.

Over all this book was a high 5 !!!

I have now read all of Mary's God Series and they were all very good!!

I hope she continues the theme. The other titles are not so good. They are not bad reads just not as great as the God Series!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, October 11, 2011
I love Mary Monroe. As a writer, it's a competitive field and we don't always read each other's work. But I read Mary Monroe. We're both from Oakland, and my only wish now is to meet her. I admire her skills as a writer. Lizzy had me laughing so hard in this book the way she stole the lead character's man in a gutless manner. Mary needs to continue to share her energy with the world. She reminds us of every day people in everyday situations. She teaches us how forgiveness is always conditional in relationships. After reading this book, I became a fan of Mary Monroe. When I become a fan, I am going to read everything you write. Thanks Mary for taking us back home to the familiarty of family life as we know it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flat out boring!, September 26, 2011
This review is from: God Ain't Through Yet (Hardcover)
This was my first book I read by Mary Monroe. First of all I thought the title was deceiving. I was outdone at the verbage used and how unnecessary it was. I read two chapters and put this book down for 3-4 weeks. I picked it back up to finish reading it and it took me 2 more weeks to complete it. I just couldn't get into this book. It dragged on and on about stupid stuff just to stretch the book longer. The part about Michael was a waste, even if he was related to one of the characters. So many characters that really had no reason to be mentioned, Scary Mary, the neighbor across the street calling to say Jacob was lurking around, the Turners... it was just a waste of my time! The book ended so abruptly it seemed like a scrambled writer and whoever ok'd this book to be published should be ashamed of themselves. I will definately not buy another one of these books and have no interest in what happens with Peewee and Mary. Another drawn out story would be like Mary waiting on answers from people in the book (it takes forever).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read!!!, September 20, 2011
This review is from: God Ain't Through Yet (Hardcover)
I recently completed the last two copies of your books in the "God Series"; the entire series was absolutely fantastic and thoroughly captivating and a delight to read. The storyline captured the realism of what women, black women at times go through. These series was a well-needed breath of "fresh air" from the "typical" fiction. Keep up the wonderful work Mary, I look forward to the next series..
