Gaither Gospel Music Lover,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: God Bless America - with Bill & Gloria Gaither and their Homecoming Friends: Live from Carnegie Hall [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have watched this video at least a dozen times since I got it last week. The music ranges from patriotic to spiritual to just good foot stomping Southern Gospel. "The End of the Beginning" written and performed by David Phelps is the most powerful song I have ever heard. It grabbed my soul and the whole time he was singing it I was mesmerized by the words and the performer. He definitely has a God-given talent. Jesse Dixon performs a rousing gospel tune reminiscent of Little Richard. You just want to get up and dance. Ken Davis is wildly funny. These are just a few of many great performances and tributes on this video. If you love gospel this video is just what you are looking for.

A keeper,
This review is from: God Bless America - with Bill & Gloria Gaither and their Homecoming Friends: Live from Carnegie Hall [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I bought this DVD and shared it with friends. One friend borrowed it, so he could take it home and listen to the whole thing. He finally returned it, then another friend who had already seen it asked me to bring it back and let her keep it for a few days. I have finally given it to her. Now, I am going to buy another God Bless America, and no one is going to borrow it. Seriously, it is a wonderful DVD, with varied talents from different ones. There is a harmonica special on there that is, alone, worth the price. Lynda Randle sings a beautiful song, with a little help from some friends. David Phelps is, according to this writer, always worth the price. (In fact, he was my original reason for purchasing this particular DVD, and what a great buy!) Like in so much of what the Gaither's produce, there is a little bit of history too. The humor is great, and if my experience means anything, it will be a great blessing to share. It is a keeper! Enjoy.

Patriotic Classics - Another Caregie Hall Favorite,

This review is from: God Bless America - with Bill & Gloria Gaither and their Homecoming Friends: Live from Carnegie Hall [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"God Bless America" is the second in a two part series of the Gaither Gospel Series filmed and recorded at Carnegie Hall. The Gaither Vocal Band opens the program with a strong number "I'm Gonna Sing." This is followed with a song written especially for New York City, "God Loves New York City" featuring Mark Lowry. The Crabb brought a new freshness to the sound of Southern Gospel with their arrangement of the song "The Lion and the Lamb." This was followed by Joy Gardner, Woody Wright, and Wesley Pritchard singing a pleasant arrangement of "If I Had a Hammer." Other featured numbers included: Jeff and Sheri Easter with Charlotte Ritchie singing "Is There Anything I Can Do," Benjy Gaither and Marsh Hall's "Carry Us On" and some favorite gospel songs sung by various ensembles made up of Homecoming friends. Natalie Grant sang "I Am Not Alone." Gloria Gaither presented a tribute to the Salvation Army for their inspiring efforts during the weeks following the 9/11 crisis. Other stirring narrations were presented by Gloria, Mark Lowry, and Guy Penrod. My personal favorites include: David Phelps singing "The End of the Beginning," Wintley Phipps unique interpretation of "Amazing Grace," the Homecoming Friends singing "God Bless America," and Sandi Patti singing "Love in Any Language" with Jess Dixon and the Homecoming Friends providing some powerful backup. Buddy Green's medley of songs on the harmonic was awesome. Other favorites of the audience included: Larnelle Harris, with Joy Gardner, Wesley Pritchard, and Reggie Smith singing "Jesus Saves," "If It Had Not Been" featuring Lynda Randle and Andre Crouch," and "It Won't Always Rain" sung by Janet Paschal. Ken Davis and Mark Lowry kept the audience laughing with their comedy. Another rich evening of Southern Gospel, patriotic classics, and favorite hymns. Inspiring worshipful entertainment at its best.
