5.0 out of 5 stars God bless those skandalous bastards, September 22, 1999

I've been a big fan of Meph ever since i saw them rock a piddly little club in Providence RI back in 95. This, the first album, is a damn fine record. In fact, in many Ska albums today, there are quite a few good songs, but nothing that really holds the whole CD together, this CD has it all, from the uproariously funny Bummble bee tuna song to the classic Doomsday. That five Iron Frenzy fol can stick it in his pie hole, because this CD beats out just about anything out there. Don't let their being a Satanic Ska band pull the wool over your eyes. Their message is pure, upbeat fun. After all, isn't that what ska is all about?

This is an amazing ska cd. If you are looking for more horns than rock in your ska, then this is for you. It is one of the best cd's I have ever heard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!, July 23, 1999

One of my first experiences in the land of ska was this very CD. From the first, the songs of this CD hit me as masterful works. I was taken aback at the power of the music-music that anyone, Ska fan or otherwise, can easily enjoy. Though my interest in Ska itself has somewhat depleted, Mephiskapheles superb CD is still foremost in my mind as a must have. Skank on Meph!!

One of the millions of CD's I've lost over the years. There's a couple songs here that just kinda slide by on the wayside with all the other ska-punk/skacore trash that's being pumped out by everyone and his brother, but there is definately enough going for this band, and especially this CD, to add it to most folks' collections. Sometimes you'll even feel like they're just another Less Than Jake with a Satanic gimmick, but play "Saba", "Danse me not", and "Finnigan Froth" and you'll discover the meat behind these guys, and the oldschool feel that pervades into their music at the strangest times. Definately an album I am re-purchasing. Nevermind, chicks dig the "Bumblebee Tuna" song. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to worship Satan to recognize this is good ska, September 20, 2011

In fact, if I ever get to heaven and this isn't on the infinite jukebox, I'll be disappointed. These guys have an amazing horn section and infectious song writing ability. Highlights to me include Doomsday, Saba, and of course the Bumblebee Tuna song. That last one is real earworm, difficult to get it out of your head. It's as if these guys sold their souls to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sound, March 26, 2006
This review is from: God Bless Satan (Audio CD)
A lot of ska fans don't like this band but I love ska and I love Mephiskapheles. Mephiskapheles has a sound that is both unique and amazing. The lyrics don't make sense sometimes but the way the vocalist sings them makes it sound really good. Songs like Doomsday and Saba are incredible. Some of the best songs I've heard are on this disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD, August 18, 2005
This review is from: God Bless Satan (Audio CD)
Don't listen to anyone who bought this CD because of the Bumble Bee Tuna Song. They wouldn't know what ska is if it crawled up their ass. Mephiskapheles is the most talented ska band to grace the genre. Specifically their horn section. Greg Robinson...wow. Osho Endo...damn. Alexander McCabe...oh my god. I strongly reccomend this CD.
