This Single is Great,

When I first heard this song on American Idol, I thought it was decent. When I heard the studio version I fell in love with it. It features all of the top 10 American Idol finalists including Clay Aiken, Kimberly Caldwell, Corey Clark, Julia DeMato, Joshua Gracin, Kimberly Locke, Carmen Rasmusen, Ricky Smith, Ruben Studdard, and Trenyce. This is worth buying and $.50 of this cd go to the red cross.

Warning,

If you liked the performance of this song on the television show, you should know that the 10 finalists singing it were backed on that performance by a full choir -- which was offstage and therefore unseen. The choir added tremendous depth and truly magnificent harmony parts that enhanced the song beautifully. That choir is absent on this studio version, and you only have the 10 finalists singing. While more authentic, it's also less magnificent and stirring. So, my point is if you've only heard the TV show version and you're basing your decision to buy it on that, you might be disappointed. That said, this version's not bad.

This song is amazing. I loved the way the split the verses...The combinaton of their vocals, is breathtaking. Only thing i'm disappointed about is that there are like no other tracks. I wish they all had their own patriotic song on this cd. But overall,m you'll love this cd, if you loved their performance when they did it. Trenyce gets her own line on the 2nd verse! :).

I suppose that as a whole, last season's American Idol Top 10, notwithstanding two or three stellar singers, were a pretty paltry sample of talent. Whenever they sang together, it was very difficult to listen to. This year, however, I find the Top 10 sound great together, notwithstanding two or three WEAK voices this time around. This single is proof of that (even if they did adjust some voices in the mix), the altogether mix is great. While there are still a couple singers in the Top 10 I don't care much for, they manage to blend. Also, I'm not usually overly patriotic just because it's trendy to be right now, but I found this rendition of a patriotic classic moving. I gave this one four stars, because I agree with what was posted earlier that I would like to have seen at least one or two more tracks on here. Maybe, as was suggested, contestants singing solos or ensembles of other patriotic songs (or otherwise, for that matter) would have been good.

I dig American Idol, but this song is...blah. With so many talented vocalists, I expected some great harmonies, but no. Nothing impressive, just a bunch of unison -- the only interesting harmonies are drowned out by synthesizers and trumpet. Not worth 2.98, I'm thinking.

I totally disagree with one review that said Lee Greenwood's version of God Bless the USA was better. His was great too but not better. Both versions are really good. All of the songs on this particular American Idol album are fantastic. This year's American Idol show was much better than last year's. I am no teenager (I am 58 years of age). I am so in love with Clay Aiken's voice. I am glad both he and Ruben received a recording contract and am delighted that Clay is doing so well on the charts.

tired of this show but understand it's success&it's charm&appeal. but it's a bit too much&you can find one or two Better vocalists who can take this song out properly.

I love this song and I love this rendition. The AI2 final contestants did a fine job with this song. Clay of course takes the cake. He is the best sounding Idol, including AI1 and AI2.
I love this song for its music, its lyric and that it gives American's something to soothe them or to root for in these troubled times. It is not about war, it is about being proud of being an American. I am not even an American and I get goosebumps everytime I hear it. Of course, Clay's voice definitely gave it an edge but that's beside the point. The point is that at this moment, American's need something to keep them together and not divided. And in a small way, this album contributes to that. |
