Book Description

September 1, 2008

Our world is in desperate need of bold, passionate men of integrity. Yet such men aren't born, they're built, shaped and formed by God to enrich their families, church, and community. But what does this process look like? And how do we get started?

The answers are found in the story of Joseph, a humble shepherd who overcame tremendous odds to become an influential leader. It's here we discover the process that creates true men of God, where He works

Providentially, supplying everything we need in our journey
Strangely, often in ways that we won't understand
Slowly, building our patience and trust

God Built explores the defining spiritual process that makes men of God. You'll uncover the Biblical pattern for growth, gain insights into common frustrations and difficulties, and get equipped for the journey ahead.

Surrender yourself to Him. And become a man that's built to last.

From AudioFile

Jim Sanders recounts the story of Joseph with authenticity. The story illustrates that bold and passionate men of God are not born that way but shaped by God through trying circumstances. Sanders deftly captures the spirit of jealousy that Joseph's brothers feel because of their father's favoritism toward their youngest brother. Sanders matches voice to mood in describing Joseph's dreams in which his brothers bow down to him and the brothers' outrage, which leads to the plot to kill him. With crisp diction, Sanders depicts the spiritual testing Joseph experiences, which reveal why God has allowed such circumstances in his life. Sanders's effortless narration explains the author's belief that men like Joseph are created by God and not by their own experiences. This review is from: God Built: Forged by God... in the Bad and Good of Life (Hardcover)
Steve Farrar puts forth a life changing perspective utilizing the Biblical story of Joseph. Most of us will never face the setbacks that Joseph did but in his 10,000 foot flyover of Joseph's story, Steve points out some Biblical truths that bring us encouragement in a world of chaos and uncertainty.

We are God built and God maintained. There is not an event in our lives, past, present, or future that God is not involved intimately in. This is one of the best treaties on this subject that I have ever read and it's done in a wonderful storytelling fashion that I have not seen before. If Steve Farrar was my professor in my college days, I would have been a far better student and much further along in living a meaningful Christian life.

I recommend this to everybody, but most especially to those going through very difficult and dark times in their lives. It is a wonderful story of hope, faith, and promise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very well written., April 24, 2009
This review is from: God Built: Forged by God... in the Bad and Good of Life (Hardcover)
I'm only about half way through this book, but I have completely enjoyed reading it. It is very 'scriptural' based, but written in a way that holds your attention. I actually purchased this book as gift's for five HS senior's that I coached. I believe that this would be an excellent book for any young person getting ready to leave home and start their new life on their own.

I have come to appreciate Steve Farrar's many books over the years. As a Senior Pastor, I have always found him to be thoroughly biblical. As a Pastor I have benefited from his many contemporary illustrations. This book, the first in a series looks at the life of Joseph. The overarching theme is God is sovereign...and He knows where we are no matter how difficult the journey.

I have everything Steve has ever written....when I see a new title by him, I pull it off the shelf and head to the register...no questions asked! I will say that up to this point... "Tempered Steel" is my all time favorite book of his...and in my opinion the best book I have ever read for understanding the valley's that we all must pass through!

This new book, God built has been so refreshing....so grab one and put it in your cart...you will be glad you did!
