Steve Farrar puts forth a life changing perspective utilizing the Biblical story of Joseph. Most of us will never face the setbacks that Joseph did but in his 10,000 foot flyover of Joseph's story, Steve points out some Biblical truths that bring us encouragement in a world of chaos and uncertainty.

We are God built and God maintained. There is not an event in our lives, past, present, or future that God is not involved intimately in. This is one of the best treaties on this subject that I have ever read and it's done in a wonderful storytelling fashion that I have not seen before. If Steve Farrar was my professor in my college days, I would have been a far better student and much further along in living a meaningful Christian life.

I recommend this to everybody, but most especially to those going through very difficult and dark times in their lives. It is a wonderful story of hope, faith, and promise.

I'm only about half way through this book, but I have completely enjoyed reading it. It is very 'scriptural' based, but written in a way that holds your attention. I actually purchased this book as gift's for five HS senior's that I coached. I believe that this would be an excellent book for any young person getting ready to leave home and start their new life on their own.

I have come to appreciate Steve Farrar's many books over the years. As a Senior Pastor, I have always found him to be thoroughly biblical. As a Pastor I have benefited from his many contemporary illustrations. This book, the first in a series looks at the life of Joseph. The overarching theme is God is sovereign...and He knows where we are no matter how difficult the journey.

I have everything Steve has ever written....when I see a new title by him, I pull it off the shelf and head to the register...no questions asked! I will say that up to this point... "Tempered Steel" is my all time favorite book of his...and in my opinion the best book I have ever read for understanding the valley's that we all must pass through!
This new book, God built has been so refreshing....so grab one and put it in your cart...you will be glad you did!

This book is well written, easy to read, and very worthy reading. Strongly recommended. It just does only look at the like of Joseph, but also helps you live like a "Victor" in just about every circumstance in like that may confront you.

I wrote a study using this book for a small mens group, and it went great.

The principles in this book will help any man who desires to know God and have a deeper faith.

Guys of all ages will enjoy God Built.

just started to read it, but so far, good book. I look forward to getting deeper into its pages. I am sure that it will be outstanding - because of who its author is.

A must read to better understand the providence of God and why "bad" things happen to good people". We are going to use it in our Men's small group. It gives great Biblical insight into the questions we have that seem to have no answers.

Brief Summary: Mr. Farrar takes an in-depth look at the life of Joseph, a man who had to overcome immense odds before becoming an instrumental leader for God's kingdom and ultimately a leader for Egypt. From this spring board, Mr. Farrar applies the principles from Joseph's life to our lives reminding us that God is in control of all situations at all times.

Positive Elements: I personally enjoyed reading some of the short biographies of hero's from our nation's past and seeing how God worked through these men's life to forged them into the men he desired them to be. There were several "gems" in this book that makes it worth while read.

This book is an excellent resource for understanding the way God works in our lives. The author uses the life of Joseph to explain how God uses our experiences, (especially the bad) and turns them into good for us. It is a very helpful and reassuring book to read and remember that even when life appears to us to be going all wrong, God IS in control and uses our negative experiences for our good and to show His Glory. This book has helped me personally gain a deeper understanding of how God works in our lives, even when He seems far away. I have recommended it to my friends who are going through tough times right now.

Although God Built is marketed toward men, any woman who has ever waited on God will find hope and strength between the manly covers of this book. My mixed (male and female) Bible study group has been studying a chapter a week for the last eight weeks. I found it impossible to read only a chapter a week and devoured the entire book in two days!

Steve Farrar has gotten to the heart of what it is to wait on God. The uncensored truth is it is HARD! Yet as Steve reminds us through the tale of Joseph, the wait is worth the reward. I'm currently in a waiting season in my life. God put this book in my hands just in time to remind me He will make this wait worth my while. Every day, every tear, every hurt and pain will be worth it!

Steve's ability to make Biblical characters come to life in the 21st Century is remarkable. He makes Joseph seem like...well...an average Joe! He's not larger than life, he's me...he's you...he's anyone who has ever been hurt while trying to do the right thing, has been demoted when you felt you should be promoted, or has felt like God has put you somewhere only to forget about you completely.

If you have been waiting on God and feel like giving up, don't! Pick up this book instead. Let Steve remind you that God will come through--when you least expect it!
