2007 album from the British Goth/Rock band led by Wayne Hussey, God Is A Bullet features 15 new songs recorded between September and December 2006 in Bath / England and completed in Wayne Hussey's own Green Room studio in Brazil. Produced and headed by Wayne the album features the line-up of Mark Gemini Thwaite on guitar, Rich Vernon on bass, and Steve Spring on drums. Musically, it is sometimes brazen or brutal while other times it can be reduced to a seductive whisper : it is what every Mission fan is surely hoping for without being what they're expecting. The album features musical contributions from some very special guests including Simon Hinkler (original guitarist with The Mission), who graces the album with some superlative guitar playing, as does Tim Bricheno, original guitarist of All About Eve. Julianne Regan (again from All About Eve) reprises her role from early Mission recordings such as "Severina" and "Beyond The Pale", adding her angelic vocal alongside Wayne Hussey's on a couple of tracks. `God Is A Bullet' is an album that dares to challenge it's audience. It's an album that will surely come to be viewed as a `classic' in the canon of The Mission. It's an album that attempts to take forward steps at a time when it's expected for the band to look backwards. Anniversaries? Bah.....They're for the sentimental. God Is A Bullet isn't. Absolutely stunned, that the mission could pull this off, dont get me wrong I'm glad they did. They lost themselves somewhere after Carved in Sand, and this is their glorious return to form. The songs are deep, and what you expect from the ones who brought us Children, which is to me their best work.
I'm a long term Mish fan, and hope that they will keep making vital music.

From the very first to the very last note, this album takes the listener across and vast and varied landscape of a very contemporary soundscape that many thought Wayne Hussey and Co. could never deliver after their heyday of successes with Children and Carved In Sand.

This band has been misbranded and misunderstood for much of their career; many have written them off as a has-been Goth band, others just trying to ride the 80's revival wave. Let me tell you now, none of those are true.

If you have never listened to the Mission, or thought that they really weren't your taste, may i suggest that this is the album you should purchase - the tunes are contemporary, more pop-orientated and permeate your brain, spinning the songs over and over in your head so much that you just have to go listen again.

2007 is the year for The Mission and God is a Bullet.

I bought this disc when it came out, with bated breath. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Was it the old Mission with great melodies and lyrics? Or was it the one that just seemed to wanna put out it 15th greatest hits album? I was pleasantly surprised. This album is great. If you are a Mission fan from way back, you will really enjoy this. I got lucky and found the version that had the Bsides from the "Keep it in the Family" single.
