5.0 out of 5 stars A return to form Excellent in so many ways Fan in Beijing China
Absolutely stunned, that the mission could pull this off, dont get me wrong I'm glad they did. They lost themselves somewhere after Carved in Sand, and this is their glorious return to form. The songs are deep, and what you expect from the ones who brought us Children, which is to me their best work.
I'm a long term Mish fan, and hope that they will keep making...

2.0 out of 5 stars Thumbs down!
Not overly strong or memorable. I'm not big into lyrics and musically sounds nothing like Carved or Children. I'm biased for that "80's" sound of music..

5.0 out of 5 stars 21 Years later this band prove they can still shine, June 9, 2007
This review is from: God Is a Bullet (Hk) (Audio CD)
From the very first to the very last note, this album takes the listener across and vast and varied landscape of a very contemporary soundscape that many thought Wayne Hussey and Co. could never deliver after their heyday of successes with Children and Carved In Sand.

This band has been misbranded and misunderstood for much of their career; many have written them off as a has-been Goth band, others just trying to ride the 80's revival wave. Let me tell you now, none of those are true.

If you have never listened to the Mission, or thought that they really weren't your taste, may i suggest that this is the album you should purchase - the tunes are contemporary, more pop-orientated and permeate your brain, spinning the songs over and over in your head so much that you just have to go listen again.

2007 is the year for The Mission and God is a Bullet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Return, February 8, 2009
This review is from: God Is a Bullet (Hk) (Audio CD)
I bought this disc when it came out, with bated breath. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Was it the old Mission with great melodies and lyrics? Or was it the one that just seemed to wanna put out it 15th greatest hits album? I was pleasantly surprised. This album is great. If you are a Mission fan from way back, you will really enjoy this. I got lucky and found the version that had the Bsides from the "Keep it in the Family" single.

Fantastic album, absolutely requires repeated listening. Wayne doesn't pull any punches. It's all there, from acoustic through distorted electric, from a whisper to a scream. I do admit that I fell in love with the Mission's music, and Wayne Hussey's sometimes unusual, though usually beautiful lyric choices 2 decades ago, and with this new release, he does not disappoint.
