Upon Eddie Valles' long awaited return home from the Iraqi War, he brings promises of no more combat and more much needed family time. But as he is getting to know his fellow marines at his new recruiting duty, those promises get put to the test. When the unthinkable occurs, and the most devastating attack in U.S. history is followed by a foreign military invasion sweeping through Southern California, Eddie must put those promises aside and join his fellow marines on an emergency defensive strike. As Eddie and his new marine companions, the battery operated grunts, grind through the war torn streets of Southern California, the weight of his broken promises and his homeland in ruins begins to take its toll as he continues to fight off enemies both foreign and domestic.

Suprisingly...,

As an avid book reader, this book would definitely be one of the more interesting books I've read in a while. The plot caught me completely by surprise and the characters were believable. At no point do they act in a way that could be construed as out of character. The plot was original; entertaining and in a way, heartbreaking at the same time. The book itself was very easy to read. Overall, I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to others.

For God & Country
This book surpassed my expectations. From the moment I started reading it I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with the characters once I met them and that love continued to grow as I spent more time with them. The action kept me on the edge of my seat and the heartwarming scenes mixed in with the turmoil only served to enhance my expierence as a reader. I have and will continue to recommend this book to others. Amazing gift that should be bought for years to come.
