sound quality is crisp. you can hear the guitar lines clearly.
the performance is tight. these guys really know how to put on a show. this dvd is for all fans of metal, not just the hardcore gforbid fans. the 2nd dvd is great documentary of the band. it's a great resource and it is also hilarious.

You can understand my anticipation when I found out that God Forbid was putting out a live dvd. Unfortunately, I came to find that it doesn't play properly on some players. I have a Sony dvd player in my bedroom where I usually watch most of dvd's. When I tried to view it on that player, all I got was audio, but no picture (the it remained on the menu the entire time). Same with the second disc. I contacted Century Media about it in hopes that this glitch could be corrected, but they claimed to had been unsuccessful in figuring it out for some reason. Please note that Nuclear Blast and Century Media share the same offices, and Nuclear Blast had a similar issue with Dimmu Borgir's Invaluable Darkness dvd (the no audio issue on second disc), yet they figured out that the defect originated from the manufacturing company, and they managed to correct it. How the problem with the God Forbid couldn't be corrected is beyond me. Why not look into the manufacturing, maybe do a new print? To compensate me for this BS, Century Media were kind enough to send me a package with two items of my choosing: the Arch Enemy Tyrants Of The Rising Sun cd & dvd, which was very cool. They also sent a new copy of the God Forbid dvd, but still the same issue with that. If you're wondering why I'm still griping about it, it's because there's still no confirmation as to whether or not the dvd issue was resolved. Until then, they did include the same concert with the Earthsblood album as a bonus cd. I'll just stick with that for now.

Just my opinion....,
This review is from: God Forbid: Beneath the Scars of Glory and Progression (DVD)
The DVD is worth it if you are a big god forbid fan. however its still not pantera's 3 DVD, nor is it Chimaira's dehumanization process. i LOVE the band so i really dig the DVD, but i could see how it might not be as entertaining to some. id rate 3.5 out of 5 stars.

This is a great dvd.
THe sound quality is good, the setlist is really good I'm not as familiar with the older stuff butt it sounded good. I would have givin it 4 stars because of the camera movement but disk 2 is so awesome that i had to give it 5. it's a rockumentary explaining the career of the band. there's these reinactments they do while thier narrating that are hilarious.awesome dvd from an often overlooked band. |
