Book Description

January 1, 2003
"College-bound and free! On my own!"
Those of us who've experienced college life understand the excitement, but we also shudder to think about the challenges and temptations overconfident freshmen will face. Help the students you know realize that God follows them to college.
The authors have mined their years of experience as campus chaplains to produce this companion for young adults trying to make sense of life, college, and vocational choices. Their reflections will help students recognize the need for grounding in God through prayer and spiritual practices throughout the college years.
This small book contains 42 reality-based and Christ-centered essays divided by topical sections:
* Being a Student: God's Call and Vision for You * Living Your Faith Each Day: Some Essentials * Faithful Relationships: Keeping God at the Center * Somewhere Between Crisis and Opportunity: Life in the Wider World
These short meditations fit easily into a busy schedule and work as a guide for prayer and reflection, personal devotion, or group study. God Goes to College is a handy book - in size and price - making it a perfect graduation gift or an item to send in a college care package.

1.0 out of 5 stars God Goes to College, June 19, 2007
This review is from: God Goes to College: Living Faith on Campus (Perfect Paperback)
I bought this book for those in our youth group that are heading off to college and I was VERY upset with the views on sex. The writers merely said it should be safe and in love. God DOES NOT approve of sex before marriage. Read Romans 1:29; 1 Corinthians 5:1, 6:13, 18, 7:2; 2 Corinthians 12:21; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 5:3; Colossians 3:5; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; Jude 7. Sex between a HUSBAND and his WIFE is the only form of sexual relations that God approves of (Hebrews 13:4). Shame on the writers for leading our youth astray from the Bible and God's direction. I did return the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Warm and Caring, November 1, 2007
This review is from: God Goes to College: Living Faith on Campus (Perfect Paperback)
The book was recommended to me to use in my campus ministry. I found it a wonderful guide to spirituality for all young folks away from home and even for those of us extending care to them. The authors continually remind the reader that God is always there to help in making the many tough life choices on college campuses. The book seems intended as a help in finding God and staying close to His Covenant with us through Jesus Christ. One statement really came home to me where it is said that we must make choices for ourselves but we do not have to make them alone -- God is always there to help. I could not find the specific reference to the other review in the book. I did find that the authors exhorted young people to "...use the gift of sexuality in the way God intended..."

This is a great little book, and is a great read for anyone who has faced any major changes--not just for college, or even not only just for young people. I'm past college, and I still found it very worthwhile. Insightful, fun, etc. Very worthwhile.
