I`ve spent my professional life encouraging employers to improve their work environment. I've dealt daily with employees who are not motivated to perform at their best. Now I help people evaluate a potential new workplace. I met Tom and his wife Wendy many years ago. We share a common passion in helping people find more meaning in their life through their work. Tom Zender is a "new thought" leader who urges us to change our thinking about how business is conducted. He points out that in order to compete in the globalized economy, all people must function at their full potential He makes a strong case for improving the work environment by providing more opportunity to express our spiritual selves. He gives plenty of history and examples to convince the reader (and business leaders) that it makes economic sense to enable employees to find meaning through their work. Tom lays out for us the concept of a "spiritual transaction" which is an interaction that maximizes the potential of all involved. As Deepak Chopra points out in his introduction, many of us are seeking a new way of ending the `"tyranny of stress" in the workplace and wanting meaningful work that gives us deep satisfaction. Hopefully Zender's words, along with the many who came before him, will create a groundswell of change in the workplace.

I have been practicing general dentistry for over 40 years. I found Toms book fascinating, couldnt put it down. Possibly because I have known Tom since our senior year in high school. In fact we lived in the same rental house for a while. Tom and his family upstairs and my family downstairs.
I am very proud of Toms achievments and his knowledge of the spiritual assets he teaches in this book. Wish I had been exposed to these concepts when I was beginning my practice. However I will endeavor to use them in the few years I will still be practicing and I know they will help me acheive greater success and a smoother running office. Everyone should read this book.

Tom Zender's book is excellent. There is no separation between the spiritual world and the world of business, yet we fight this reality and often turn away from deeper insights that can drive business. As a former organizational development consultant for 20 years, I've read many "spirit in business"-type books. I must say that Tom Zender's "God Goes to Work" has jumped to the very top of my list--it's both practical, comprehensive and deeply inspirational.

Tom has a down-to-earth, engaging writing style, and for me, does a great job of integrating contemporary spiritual concepts with today's best business practices. His "Spiritual Transaction" concept by itself is worth the price of the book!
