5.0 out of 5 stars Straight Talk with Rare Insight, August 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: God, Guns, & Rock 'N' Roll (Hardcover)
This book is a breath of fresh air. Not just for the great stories like hunting with Aerosmith and busting drug dealers backstage, but for his insights. Ted Nugent is not afraid to tell the truth--not just about God, Guns, and Rock 'n' Roll, but about society in general. The solution to schoolyard shootings is not to take away our guns (it's too late for that), but to spend time with our children. Yes, a radical concept. The Motor City Madman actually advocates taking control of your family, your life, and your very survival.

It's also refreshing to see one of the few (if not only) rock stars from the '70s who never took drugs.

It's sad to see that Ted Nugent is seen as a radical--he says families should spend time with their kids and that drugs and alcohol are bad for you. When I grew up this was called common sense. Thank God for Ted's refresher course.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweaty Teddy: Family Man, August 24, 2000
By
This review is from: God, Guns, & Rock 'N' Roll (Hardcover)
Ted's book of "rantings" is a fun, fast read. The guy is "spot-on" regarding gun-rights and takes a common-sense position that is difficult to argue with. Here's a conservative guy who loves his family, God (gasp), guns (gasp!), and hunting (GASP!). There probably isn't a liberal alive that will like this book or will spend the time to really think about some of the things that Ted is talking about--pity.

Ted spends a lot of time talking about hunting and nature, and his love of the two. Although, I'm not a hunter, it made me much more interested in the sport.

He also discusses his family and how he has been so successful in creating a solid, close-knit unit. At times his writing is funny, sad, and touching.

Anyone who reads this will have to decide that Ted--who describes himself as "just a guitar player"--is one of the "good guys".

4.0 out of 5 stars Should be required reading for all parents!, August 16, 2000

Ted Nugent may be a wild man, but he's a wild man whose heart is in the right place. What's important? Family first! His devotion to his wife and kids and other family members is exemplary. His aversion to drugs, alcohol and tobacco is amazing, considering his chosen field of endeavor. And he's right on target (no pun intended) when it comes to people's fascination with guns -- why not take this and channel it in a positive manner? Teach your kids gun safety and handling from an early age, just the way you teach them that the stove is hot but useful, matches can be dangerous but useful, the family car is potentially dangerous but useful, etc. Forget this Million Mom march stuff -- quit marching and go home, Moms AND Dads, and spend time with your kids and make sure you know where they are and what they're doing! And read this book -- by the way, you'll really enjoy it!
