An Awesome Spiritual Romance,
By Cynthia Sue Larson "www.realityshifters.com" (San Francisco bay area, CA USA) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
When I first saw the title of this book, "God on a Harley," I must have laughed for several minutes straight. I leafed through a few pages, wondering if the story was any good, and was quite surprised to discover that this spiritual romance novel is not just good -- it's excellent! What if God appeared as a gorgeous man with long sable hair and a black jacket atop a Harley Davidson 1340cc motorcycle to a single 37 year-old woman? Could this be what it takes to help her shake off the self-limiting behaviors and beliefs that have stood between her and a happy life? You'd better believe it! As our heroine, Christine, slowly begins a life-altering journey to transform her life into one she actually enjoys living, she finds the meaning of love, and the secrets to enjoying a happy life. Even if you normally don't enjoy romance novels, I'm sure you'll love "God on a Harley". This book is sheer genius, and can help you see your life in a whole new light!

A man's review,
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
This book was given to me by a female friend who shares a love of reading, as I do. Quite honestly, the title put me off a little. But after reading it, twice, I came away with a different view on a lot of issues relating to life and relationships on the whole and how women see the same things. I found it to be both inspirational and entertaining at the same time. Moving and thought provoking without being heavy handed or biased from a woman's perspective. My Christmas shopping encluded 10 copies which I gave as gifts, and I recieved several "Thank yous" after they had read it. Some of my friends even sent other copies to their friends. Very few books have actually impacted my life, but this one has. Not only has it reafirmed my belief that God does care about each of us, but that He has not lost His faith and there still is hope if we will just listen to what He has to say.

A fable that will make you examine your own life ,,,,
By
This review is from: God on a Harley (Hardcover)
I got this little treasure from the library. I say little because it is very short, but it is jam packed with such truth, such faith. It's the story of Christine, a burned out nurse who is lonely and downright angry with the way her life has turned out. She bases her life on whether she has a relationship or not and is increasingly miserable and angry at the start of this fable. Then God arrives. He comes in the form of a handsome stranger on a Harley. Slowly, through this fable, he teaches her what she's been doing wrong and helps her find the meaning of life. This short book packs a very heavy message ... one that will make you reexamine your own thought processes and the direction of your life. It's a story that will linger in your thoughts for a long time ... it will hopefully make you think ... make you change ... grow.

Need a Lift?,
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
God on a Harley is the story of burned-out, disillusioned New Jersey nurse Christine Moore. Sore from a recent encounter with an old love, she accidentally runs into her dream man. But he is no ordinary man. This jaw-dropping, hog-riding hunk is God Almighty. But he prefers to be called "Joe."
Joe takes Christine on a journey of self-searching, self-purging, and self-discovery. And even though it is forbidden, she falls in love with him. That's ok. Heck, I was in love with him, too! Joan Brady describes Joe so well, you expect to see him standing behind you when you close the book and turn around. This book is great for any woman who has been fruitlessly searching a long time for Mr. Right. And, as the cover says, if you've ever had a broken heart, you will love this book. Give this book to your girlfriends who have just got their hearts broken! Regardless of your religious affiliation, this book will warm your heart and make you yearn to simplify your own life. Joan Brady is a great writer. Anybody who can make the Jersey Shore sound beautiful and romantic gets points in my book. The idea for this pocket novel is so original, and well-thought out. Any problem the reader might think of is addressed by the author.

A "Must Read" Book!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
This book is so great! I found it by mistake while looking for books on woman bikers-so I thought! I think it was meant for me to read this book. I was going through some very tough times both physical and emotional and this book helped me to stop and take a look at my life. In the book, God comes back to earth as a good looking, sensitive, loving man who happens to be a biker. He is personally visiting with everyone on a one-on-one basis to let them know that he is real and to give them their own set of commandments. This book hit so close to home that I could have been the main character. While I personally love the image of God coming back as a biker, this book is for everyone-not just bikers. In fact, I bought a copy and have passed it to a friend, who passed it to a friend, etc., etc., To date, my very worn out copy, has now been read by over 21 people that I know of and some have started their own "pick me up" reading circles. All this within 3 weeks. The book is easy to read and very enjoyable. Once you read this one, read the sequel- "Heaven in High Gear". I can't wait for the sequel to "Heaven in High Gear" if there is going to be one. I HOPE SO!!!!

Spiritual Fable or Fact?,
By Virginia Santoro "Nothing but the truth!" (Boca Raton, FL United States) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
An offhand remark by a friend led me to this wonderful fable. I felt as if I was sitting in the living room with my friend, Joan Brady, as she told me the story of her experience. As adults, it's often difficult for us to suspend our disbelief and become like children again to hear a fairy-tale and believe in its possibilities. But this is something we all should do a lot more often. The six lessons presented in this story I've heard before, but never understood so clearly until now. The context in which they are presented is very impactful. And maybe, just maybe, I was finally ready to really hear, understand and accept them as truth. This is not a "woman's book." This is a book for the manchild and womanchild in all of us, with profound truths for everyone. On the road to peace, joy and deepest love, we all will meet "Joe" one day, and never forget the day our lives changed forever. This is a book that I will read again and again. I wished it wouldn't end.

Light, Bright, & Witty Spiritualism for the 90's,
By A Customer
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
Joan Brady's "God On A Harley" is one of the books that is never long on my bookshelf because I am always taking it down to lend it to someone or re-reading it myself. This light, bright and witty fable reads like an amusing version of your favorite 12 step meeting (or should I say "6 step"?) but buried beneath its humour is a message for everyone who lives too fast, longs too hard and spins their wheels in pursuit of whatever seems to be around the corner. In fact, Brady takes a fantastic premise (woman meets God, who is clad in a biker jacket and leaning against the sexiest machine ever built) and immediately draws the reader into a story from which there is no escape.
As the reader follows the journey of the novel's protagonist, Christine, she or he finds themself inadvertantly reflecting on their own journey through life, and evaluating who they are and where they want to go. The prose is catchy and stylized in a way that steals your heart and challenges your mind. It is impossible to emerge from the pages of Brady's short novel unchanged. It's OK to be over 30 and not an idealist, but if you can read "God On A Harley" and not be moved to appreciate who you are and the world around you, then you truly have no heart. And don't worry, after you put down (and pick up again, and again and again) this book, you'll find your own Joe will show up in strange and mysterious ways.

a huge fan,
By A Customer
This review is from: God on a Harley (Paperback)
My friend gave me this book when it was first published back in 1996 and since then I have probably bought and given 20 copies to various friends. It's an easy read, full of wisdom and inspiration. It's a must for anyone reassessing their life, wondering how they got where they are, wondering where they are going. Whenever I've having "one of those days," I pull it out and read it again. Within hours, I'm dancing around the house with the knowledge that life really is a magical journey.
