Book Description

March 1985
The God Hustlers is a novel about religious cults, the nature of good and evil, and the meaning of spiritual transformation. It brings the experience of the cult to the reader in a very direct way and compels them to draw some startling conclusions. The reader is thrust into the worlds of Simon Peter Stone and Ahmad Sadiq, two of the God Hustlers. Simone Peter Stone is an idealist who corrupts his own vision, and Ahmad Sadiq is an ex-pimp who finds a better hustle. The story is told from the points of view of the hustlers, the hustled, and the investigators.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Mary Webb is a talented writer. Her thorough research into this timely subject matter makes this a very informative study, particularly for those people who are searching for solace in today's socieyt." -- J. California Cooper, Author of Some Soul too Keep

"The God Hustlers is truth untamed-relentless, raw, naked, revealing. It is our hearts-quivering, crying, aching. It is our souls-smiling, rejoicing, rediscovering. Mary Webb's voice is candid, piercing, probing, and above all refreshing. Mary Webb's The God Hustlers is truth wrested from all its former hiding places." -- Jennifer Blackman Lawson, Poet

This review is from: The God Hustlers (Paperback)
The God Hustlers is a tapestry of a novel, as Mary H. Webb weaves the stories of many sharply-drawn characters into her riveting portrait of the world of the cult. Beautifully written and absolutely engrossing, I couldn't put it down.
