This review is from: The God Hustlers (Paperback)
The God Hustlers is a tapestry of a novel, as Mary H. Webb weaves the stories of many sharply-drawn characters into her riveting portrait of the world of the cult. Beautifully written and absolutely engrossing, I couldn't put it down.

One of the best books I've read in years., March 3, 1999

Mary Webb writes beautifully. Her story, told from many different points of view, provides a penetrating look at cults in America. The poetry of her language and humanity of her characters draws the reader into a compelling and complex multi-cultural world. Her sensitive portrayal of a difficult and disturbing topic rewards readers, shedding light on the nature of humanity. This book inspired me. Alongside the cults, presented in their most horrifying aspects, Webb presents a vision of goodness and strength that will never give in to evil.
