5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the right listener, January 13, 2010

This is a great hardcore metal album. Relatively short, brutal songs with good breakdowns, no clean vocals, no sissy stuff. I think it strongly resembles All Out War, who is consistenly fantastic. I would recommend this album for anyone who likes Awaken Demons, First Blood, Blood Stands Still, and bands of their ilk.

One of the best albums to come out in 2009 I recommend picking this up. I would put this up with master killer. Great art work by Craig Hollaway and has a nice piece of art remembering decesed guitar player Sob. Buy this album and see for yourself that merauder is on of the best nyhc bands around

4.0 out of 5 stars the might meruader returns, September 13, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: God Is I (Dig) (Audio CD)
meruader is from New York and have a few ties to the NYHC scean but they are more of a death/thrash breed of metal sounding more like sepultura arise/choas era but no clone band they have hard as nails breakdowns and can churn up the riffs as good as thrash bands.often useing mid paced tones but diffently not slow but very deliberate time changes.being around If memory serves me since 89 finally releasing their debute cd in 96 after making a huge underground buz for years and having many bands like biohazard and agnostic front talk them up to the fans then releasing 5 venoms in 99 and blueilty in 2003never gaining too much attention or making it very big they remained a heavy underground favorite for years with fans and bands.in 2007 they releaased a 2 disc anthology most people assumed the worst (after looseing sob on guitar years earlier)that they were done but not yet!they have proved to be just as heavy and vital 20 years later.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Album, September 1, 2009

This review is from: God Is I (Dig) (Audio CD)
I was pretty excited for this album. They're usually considered a hardcore band, but they are more thrash than anything IMO. Their older stuff is a mesh of Pantera/Biohazard/Machine with a NYHC edge throughout. The band and label have been talking this album up, making a lot of promises, including old-school sounding tunes w/ "modern kicks". That part didn't thrill me too much. I read a review that stated this album is what Biohazard's 'Urban Discipline' would sound like had it been recorded in 2009. That of course, got me very excited. On to the review.

The album isn't bad. Solid, heavy, thrasy riffs throughout. Complete w/ some quality breakdowns and Biohazard-esque chanting. A couple songs have some speedy riffs, I wish more did. Jorge's voice was powerful and clear. Unfortunately, the "modern kicks" showed in his voice. Many of his vocals featured an almost deathcore growl. I admit to liking some deathcore, but certain dudes' voices sound pretty boring and generic in this range. Jorge's does in some parts unfortunately. My hat is off to their lead guitarist. He laid down some sick, well placed solos. There are only 2-3 fillers out of 10 songs, which isn't bad. There are probably 5 high quality songs, with a couple that are OK. Unfortunately, there are no songs that really jump out at me and kick my ass. This will hinder my rating a bit. Overall, if you like these guys, pick this one up. Anyone who likes any of the bands I mentioned earlier will probably enjoy it as well.
