5.0 out of 5 stars An important book, May 24, 2008
This review is from: The God-Kings and the Titans; The New World Ascendancy in Ancient Times (Hardcover)
This book suggests a hypothesis about ancient cultures that is just as relevant as when it was published. Bailey recounts the Odyssey saga of Ulysses as a map-guide to the tin mines of Brazil and Lake Titicaca. Scholars still have no explanation of where the huge amount of tin came from that enabled the Bronze Age to happen in the Middle East. Many others have tried to identify Ulysses' route by looking at sites around the Mediterranean, but on item after item, Bailey finds very interesting correspondences to what would have occurred on a boat trip from the Mediterranean to South America. Whether future discoveries prove him right or wrong, his argument is well-made and is food for thought. The mystery surrounding the appearance, disappearance, and nature of the Chavin, Nazca, and Tiahuanaco cultures of Peru have still not been unlocked - could this be part of the secret? Reprint this book!
