I was praying for a spouse for a long time. By suggestion of a Christian mentor, I got a copy of "Spirit Filled Believer's Handbook," also by Derek prince. I went to Amazon to see if he had anything else availible. Oddly enough, there were several titles, including this one. Not long later, I ordered a copy off of the internet. I'm certainly glad I did, too.

This book basically uses the Bible and lays down a foundation for the do's and dont's of finding a Godly spouse. In addition to using the Bible, Derek tells of how he met Lydia, his first wife. She died many years after they were married. Then, a few years after that, he met Ruth, his current wife. The 2 chapters on his wives and how it all happened really helped me understand the rest of the book.

But the best part of the book are the 2 chapters by his current wife, Ruth. Even though she only wrote 2 chapters, they are the longest chapters in the whole book. She tells what to do and what not to do in terms of looking for a spouse. While Derek's chapters were great, hers were different. Ruth tells of a lot of mistakes she made when she was married previously to Derek. Her chapters will help Christians avoid the pitfalls that she went through while she was seeking a spouse and her eventual and tragic first marriage.

Oh, I'm still praying for a spouse. However, this book has changed my prayers on the matter and what I should and shouldn't do on my end of things. It was truly an eye-opener. This book should be read by all Christians seeking a spouse and also by Pastors, deacons, elders, lay leaders, and people in the Christian counseling field. Believe me, it'll change the way you see courtship and marriage.

Christian Divorce would be non-existent if the Body of Christ would follow Derek Prince's lead in finding a mate. Book begins and ends with Derek Prince's own love stories. Sandwiched in between are wise, insightful, Biblical references to this hot topic. Obviously led by the Holy Spirit, this is a must-read for every parent and unmarried person over 10 years of age, in the Body of Christ. Don't look for a mate, or send your teenager out into the "dating game" without it!!!!!

This book is great. It tells the truth about what God has in store for those who wait on his best for a mate. Why He hasn't sent the one you're looking for yet and how to be at peace and what to do until He does sent them.

This is the best book I have ever read on dating and marriage. If everyone followed the reliance on the providence of God to work in this area, there would be much less divorce and unhappiness in marriage.

In God is A Matchmaker, the late Derek Prince wrote not only his most famous book, but one that provides encouragement and comfort to those looking for and ultimately waiting for God to provide a mate.

Prince details his two marriages and the poignant journey leading up to both. This book will not be loved or liked by those who possess politically correct viewpoints on marriage, and it won't provide comfort to those who don't believe in God. But to people who love the Lord, and who seek His provision, this book can help to give them the assurance that God can do anything if we believe and trust in Him.

I came across this book thrice and finally decided to buy it... but again God's hand worked fast. My Pastor's wife offered to lend it to me. The book has been a blessing to me in the line of praying for a Spouse. I am in the 'Indian-single-woman-in-late-20's' Group and has been under tremendous pressure. God has been wonderful and faithful leading me to this book and changing my entire perspective. I have learnt to pray for infants so that they can marry a person that God has kept in store for them... and for all my single friends both with and not with the Lord so that they marry a person who is chosen for them by the Lord.... Thanking the Lord for my spouse who is already there for me at the altar! Amen

I'm glad my marital status has already been decided. This book's message is only for the truly committed (100% sold out man/woman of God). It requires trusting in God rather than yourself to locate your marriage partner, few are ready for that illigocal life style. This book details the instruction of Jesus: lose to gain, die to live (illogical but true). It points to a path of following, preparation, waiting and dependance - traits that will bring fulfillment and true life.

I've walked this path and it delivers what he promotes, regretfully not at all times. I was steered to this book by a divorced man trying to do it right in phase two. Decided his 1st way brought divorce, thought he'd try Gods way this time.

Derek Prince presents an old-fashioned idea of marriage and love. This way of life sounds so wonderful, I wish it were so. And maybe it is! I have researched him and his loves online, and found him to walk the talk. His ideas and beliefs have inspired me to rethink the way I interact with others. For that, I am grateful and highly recommend this book if you are looking for a spiritual, fully committed relationship.

This book helps to gain an understanding of both husband and wife roles in marriage accordinding to God's plan. It's easy to read as a companion to the Bible and does a great job of referencing scripture. Great for parents, pastors, teachers, family, and anyone preparing for marriage.

Please forget my English if is not correct. I'm praying for the restoration of my marriage someone recommend this book because they dont believe God can change my husband heart but the only thing that kind confuse me about this book is God hates divorce Mal 2: 16 Ruth Baker was divorced (Mark 10:12) . What happen why she didn't pray for her first husband? (see I cor 7:16 (explain why is so important to pray for you spouse.)
Your spouse and the courts say your marriage is dead, but God said in Ez. 37 I am going to breathe new life into it. God wants to show the world His mighty power for God to get all the glory, honor and praise when your marriage is raised back to life again. Please never give up in your marriage even if is dead. Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.' Proverbs 19:21
