A must have!,

This review is from: God and Me (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book for kids of all ages. Each day has a one-paragraph life lesson that children can easily relate to: sharing, friends, manners, family... Each page has bright colors and photographs that relate to that days message. Each page also has a 'Prayer for today' - a short prayer to God about the days lesson. At the bottom is a reference to a bible passage that also relates. Each page takes about 5 min to read and is perfect for bedtime. Our children and 4 and 2 and we read this to them every night. They call it their "One-a-day" book because we do one page a day. This is a great gift for birthday, baptisms or any special occassion.

Awesome Devotional for ALL Children,
By Momofthreegirls "SDT" (Hampstead, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God and Me (Hardcover)
I have a four year old, a two year old and an eight month old. We all read this together at bedtime. There are three parts to each daily devotion. A short message, a prayer and a scripture reading. The pictures are vivid and inviting and the short message is brief and clear. I think this is something we will continue to use for many years. ENJOY!!!

I was really excited when I saw this book. I love the pictures, love the concept, but was disapointed in the product. I felt that often the bible verses chosen did not link well with the devotion. Several times there was a great concept in the devotion, and several bible references that could have easily been used, however the bible reference chosen did not seem to relate well at all. I currently reading my children "The Jesus Storybook Bible" by Sally Lloyd-Jones or the "Big Picture Story Book Bible" by David Helm over this devotion.

I bought this for my 2 year old son who is as squirmy as can be and he loved it. The devotionals are short and simple. If your child can sit through more then there's even a Bible verse to read. I loved it so much I bought it for my niece too.

My three year old loves it,

This book has relatable text and photos. We read it after bedtime stories and its such a nice ending to our bedtime routine. My daughter always wants to go back and read her favorites after we've done the daily reading. This is the book she keeps in bed with her after I leave the room.
As a mainstream Presbyterian, I sometimes find that materials for kids have too much of an evangelical slant...but not this book. I think any Christian (Catholics/Unitarians/Baptists) would find it non offensive and useful! |
