4.0 out of 5 stars Product has changed. NO DVD!! Amazon get with it!!!
I ordered this new direct from amazon because of the great ratings on the included DVD, however, after an extremely long wait, the DVD wasn't included with the guide, so I ordered a replacement copy, same problem! I ended up buying a used one because amazon couldn't supply it. At least they offered me a refund and return postage. Overall a great guide if you can find...

3.0 out of 5 stars Unclear and confusing guide
On the cliff in ACT 4, it does get ahead of itself at parts and then goes back - really confusing. When you write a strategy guide, you should always write strictly sequential.

In the Hades Room with the rolling balls, it never mentions once that you have to go through the third door - so you never know where you are in the guide.

There are also...

3.0 out of 5 stars Unclear and confusing guide, July 10, 2010
This review is from: God of War (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
On the cliff in ACT 4, it does get ahead of itself at parts and then goes back - really confusing. When you write a strategy guide, you should always write strictly sequential.

In the Hades Room with the rolling balls, it never mentions once that you have to go through the third door - so you never know where you are in the guide.

There are also erratas in this book: Notice how in the block puzzle it states to push the odd shaped block 90 degrees counterclockwise, when in fact, it has to be pushed 180 degrees. Also, one of the blocks is on the left, when it states that it's on the right. Now, I understand that I'm playing the PS3 version, and the developers might have changed some things (unlikely though). Even then the author could have gone a more clear route by taking a screenshot of the completed puzzle and highlighting the final shapes - instead of just a wall of text.

It also missed an item chest, containing a Phoenix Feather, underwater.

The roman numerals and the font are also unclear - I guess it's a tradeoff between maintaining the style of the game and being clear. Prima apparently went for the former.

After finding more extensive walkthroughs online I regretted spending the money on this book. Could have bought a game. It is a very well done, glossy book. There are maps and explainations of weapons etc. The game is fantastic and this is a great collectable companion. However. It's not necessary in playing the game. As I mentioned before. You can get walkthrough and other information on the web.

This book is EVERY detail you'll ever need to play this game. Game is so intricate, you'd miss so much without it.

4.0 out of 5 stars This was very helpful, April 11, 2011

The book was helpful to find my way around and show what I should do first. It even helped me learn how to find hidden chests and how to beat each of the bosses. I did not expect to have a DVD go with it, I'll watch it and see if it's helpful too.

4.0 out of 5 stars GoW Guide, January 31, 2010
This review is from: God of War (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
Keep in mind all my reviews for the strategy guides I own will be the same unless they bring something new to the table, because they are the same just for different games. So don't be upset because I cut and paste. I only do it in this for the guieds I own and I know it applies to. Thank you.

If you get stuck on games like the average person this will help you get through the rough spots. I found it very helpful, easy to read, and well put together for the most part. My only complaint is all the secrets and bonus stuff is in the back of the book. I feel it should be in the walkthrough so you don't have to go back and forth to see if you missed something. or get an item so late that it is irrelevant anymore because you got it so late its too weak. But most Guides do this so this is not the only one with this flaw. Hope that helps you out

3.0 out of 5 stars Ain't really necessary, May 1, 2005
This review is from: God of War (Prima Official Game Guide) (Paperback)
The game isn't too hard and is quite short, so the price tag is kind of high. The game is epic, but I don't know if the length justifies $70, that's all.
