A Study of the Significance of God's Promises,
By Andy Dunn "Andy Dunn" (Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews
This review is from: God Promises You (Paperback)
Though several of the promises of God are mentioned in "God Promises You," this is not a book which lists the many promises to be found in the Bible.Instead, Spurgeon wrote this text to examine the concept of God's promises -- why would God promise us anything, and to whom are the promises made? That settled, Spurgeon then explores the life-altering ramifications of the dependability of God in keeping His word. Covering this topic in 20 short chapters, the book is a bit more academic than Spurgeon's purely sermon-style works (e.g. "God Loves You"), but is still readily accessible. The combination of reason and Scripture presented in this work results in a powerful, faith-inspiring volume with decidedly practical applications. As with Spurgeon's other writings, this is Bible-based and doctrinally sound. I only wish it were longer!
