5.0 out of 5 stars Remembering Never - God Save Us All April 2, 2006
By Brandon
Format:Audio CD
If you think the songs on this CD all sound the same, you probably haven't taken enough time to actually listen to it. I enjoyed this CD to the very last song. Everything before "Women and Children..." is a complete waste. I would recommend buying this CD as well as "Women and Children..." Both probably the best CD's this band has completed so far.

Recommended tracks for new listeners:

Slaughterhouse Blues.

Gangsta Rap and Peppermint Schnapps.

The Goddamn Busy Signal.

Highlighted track:

The Goddamn Busy Signal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another pleasant surprise April 6, 2006
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Several albums have come out this year (i.e. Bleeding Through, Sworn Enemy, etc.) which I wasn't expecting much from, and then they surprised me by turning out to be quite great. Thus is the case with Remembering Never's "God Save Us." I thought their last album, "Women And Children Die First" was pretty good, but not great; and even though "God Save Us" still isn't flawless, it shows that Remembering Never are improving as a band.

These songs are very raw and energetic, so what they lack in originality they make up for with intensity and sheer heaviness. Kind of like a cross between Chimaira and Hatebreed, this album couldn't be more full of scorching riffs, raw-throated vocals, and breakdowns. And, despite having the occasional spot of clean singing (i.e. "Off Key And Outta Line") and slow tempo change (i.e. "Suicide Hotline On Speed Dial"), these songs are relentless.

Songs like "Con Artist" and "Runner Up In A Sh - t-Eating Contest" are pounding maelstroms of blowtorch guitars and drums. "Slaughterhouse Blues," "White Devil,"and "Judas Will Swing" all sport big grooves with fiery, churning riffs and walloping drums, while vocalist Pete spills his guts out, bellowing lyrics like "murder is a family value." The last standout track on here is "The Godd-mn Busy Signal," which has a very "math-y" beat and several tempo changes.

Most of the tracks on here tend to blend in with each other (since none of these songs have anything like melody or a guitar solo). Regardless, "God Save Us" is in the running for the best hardcore/metalcore album so far of 2006, and it makes for some quite enjoyable listening sessions.

With so many bands stripping themselves of the energy and passion of hardcore music Remembering Never has made a welcome addition to a hardcore scene that is building itself up once again. Remembering Never started off weak with their debut, representing a watered down hardcore scene that had turned to an emo/metal sound in an attempt to gain popularity. Since then Remebering Never has done the reverse of what bands like VOD, Earth Crisis, and Candiria eventuly lowered themselves to; they have evolved into true hardcore patriots, bringing a sound that reigns terror and lyrics that pack a punch that will knock your face back into your skull. Althought their sound is not the traditional two-step hardcore rhythm they represent a great deal of what hardcore is all about. Passion, Loyalty, friendship, Committment, and pure unadulterated aggressive music that can blow the doors right off of your car. God Save Us is a great follow up to "Women and children die first." The music, lyrics, the heart, and oh those vicious breakdowns. If you get a chance check out the track "Little Hitlers", CRY BABY CRY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Much anticipated release and i'm very pleased May 13, 2006
Format:Audio CD
There were two albums i was excited about this winter/spring. "The Truth" Bleeding Thought and "God Save Us" Remembering Never. I'm going to have to say that i am a huge bleeding through fan, but i am much more satisfied with this cd! It blew me a way I don't want to say it yet, but i'm enjoying this CD over Women and Children Die first. I really how they have shortened things up. I love Remembering Never, but their lyrics go on forever because they have so much to say and some song were a little to ling for me. This lyrics are really good on this CD. I enjoy Con Artist because it really set the mood of the CD. I love the collaboration with On Broken wings on Gangsta Rap & Peppermint Schapps. On broken wings is another band i really love and the collaboration on this CD is really cool. but, do nth but this CD if your a Christian and think this is another Hardcore Christian band because it's not the case. this band is anti- Christian (i think). but if aim wrong someone correct me.
