Book Description

December 1, 1996
Since childhood, you've sung the words, "Jesus loves me, this I know." The tune is as familiar as your own mirrored reflection. But sometimes we have difficulty believe that the creator and sustainer of the universe could be bothered with people like you and me -- much less really love us. But when God put on flesh and entered our world, he washed dirty feet, he soothed suffering souls, and he forgave fallen sinners. His message is loud and clear -- he loves us!

Jim McGuiggan's passionate, devotional readings draws you beyond the commands, the laws, and the history and paint and insightful portraits of God that reveal his tender heart of love.

4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent pickup book that you can't put down, March 18, 1999

This review is from: God of the Towel: Knowing the tender heart of God (Hardcover)
McGuiggan has a style of writing that reminds me somewhat of Max Lucado. But as much as I enjoy Max's books they are not as meaty as McGuiggan's. It's like the difference between popcorn and chicken strips. One leaves you full while the other leaves you fulfilled. McGuiggan wraps his observations in witty, insightful personal experiences that make the christian walk come alive. His grasp of the arts, especialy the movies is astounding. As deep as the book is, each chapter represents a small chewable mouthfull that leaves you savoring every word. You could read this book at one sitting, but why would you want to? You'll spend half your time reading and the other half contemplating what you just read. This is an easy to read and understand book but it is filled with depth and insight.

5.0 out of 5 stars God Loves Us and Is Truly the God of the Towel, April 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When our Lord met with his disciples on the night before his crucifixion, he took a towel and washed all of his disciples feet, demonstrating his love for each of them. The King humbled himself and demonstrated his love as a servant. Since our Lord does not change, he still loves each of his children just as he showed his love for his disciples. This book seeks to show the "Tender Heart of God". Over eight chapters and 65 individual lessons, Author Jim McGuiggan teaches the reader that our Lord loves all his children and seeks our hearts and loves through all sorts of circumstances. God clearly demonstrates his love in so many ways. This book is a welcome reminder of His enduring love.

I recommend using this book as a daily study, reading one story at a time, and then dwelling and contemplating the message of the story and how it applies to one's life. If the reader comes away with the knowledge that God loves even sinful mankind, and loves us wholeheartedly, then this book succeeds magnificently.

p.s. His love endures forever!
