Of Indie Comedy and Hate,
By
This review is from: God Is a Twelve Year Old Boy With Aspergers (Dig) (Audio CD)
Why would you believe a guy who starts his review in the middle of a sentence? There is a possible world in which that guy goes to comedy clubs, puts down 6 or so drinks and barely laughs at funny jokes. This is actually surprising as I would imagine his insatiable craving for jokes that involve the word "faggot" and "retard" only increases with a belly full of MGD.
This album is funny. It discusses serious issues like bears gentrifying cities and myspace ads. Also, don't worry; you don't have to like Nuetral Milk Hotel in order to enjoy this album.

Another great album from Eugene,

I first saw Eugene on the Comedians of Comedy tour a couple years ago. While I was least familiar with him, he was the funniest and going back to listen to his older albums confirmed that. If you are a fan of the new school, standup-is-the-new-grunge comedy, than you will love this. In addition to purchasing and enjoying this disc, I'd also recommend follow him on Twitter.

You may know Eugene Mirman from a small recurring segment in the recently concluded HBO comedy show Flight of the Conchords. But Mirman's more than that, as this disc makes clear. It's entirely observational humor and non-sequiturs: several segments are different quizzes that Eugene finds, and fills out, and then tells people about.
Example: 'I was in Vancouver, in what I was told was the poorest neighborhood in America. Which I found very hard to believe, because has anyone ever been to Detroit. It has bears returning to the city. When bears start gentrifying a city, and opening Thai restaurants ... that is a very poor city." Then he pretends to argue with a bear. My favorite Mirman joke is actually from En Garde, Society! - one of his previous albums. 'Somebody recently asked me, if you were any animal, what would you be', and I said a swamp, and he said 'That's not an animal', and so I hit him. Because I would be a bear. But I wanted to show, not tell.' Comedy's very subjective, and there are a lot of funny comedians out there, but Mirman's the best, in my opinion. By far the best part of this CD is the three-part 'radio play', which is just ... it's amazing. You must listen to believe. You'll laugh. You may not know exactly why, but you'll laugh, long and hard.

The other reviewer is nuts. Maria Bamford is really funny. If you enjoy the greats like Zach Galifianakis, David Cross, Patton Oswalt, Michael Showalter, Dave Attell, Demetri Martin, you know people with a sophisticated style and delivery, then you'll be right at home with this album. Great stuff. Ignore completely if you get into garbage like Carlos Mencia or Dane Cook. This is quirky indie comedy by an interesting person for interesting people.

Gheez O'Pete thanks, Mr. Mirman!,

As with Mr. Mirman's previous two albums, I played this one so often during the first week of purchase that I debated dropping a beat behind it. And then that made me laugh and I had a moment of silent praise for Eugene and the creativity he was able to inspire in me.
I gave this CD five stars because the option to give it six was not available. So I drew the extra star on my hand and have been referencing it when needed. Thank you, Mr. Mirman!

This is one of the best comedy albums I've ever heard. I especially like the part with Larry Murphy and the story about the title of the album. I've been laughing about this album for the past week. It is absolutely hilarious! Fin.

Eugene is such a rare treat and the most unique comic working today. If you like Patton Oswalt or David Cross, you'll love Eugene.

J. Casey (the first reviewer) must love Jeff Dunham,
This review is from: God Is a Twelve Year Old Boy With Aspergers (Dig) (Audio CD)
Eugene Mirman lives in a small mud hut with three indigenous, yarn-making yaks, on a cliff called "Edge of Reality." What I'm saying is that you should probably buy this album from which comedy is disseminated. You should also perhaps buy other comedy albums by this person. "God is a Twelve-Year-Old Boy with Aspergers" is probably the best metaphor written in at least the last three days. I also heard that Maria Bamford tracks down her negative reviewers (and by extension--those who say mean things about her on Amazon reviews that are not her own) and shaves the back hair of said negative reviewer. She then sells the hair to Zach Galifinakis. That is why his beard is so luxurious. So, in conclusion, you should buy this album; it, like every Commander Cody album, has probably changed my life.

As always, Eugene's comedic stylings bring a smile to my face and laughter to the ears of anyone around me. I highly recommend buying this album to beat the winter/recession blues.

Decent comedy,

This is a decent comedy album. Why the three stars? Because on my cd on track 9 you can clearly hear a different recording, ie. it's a different night, which is kind of cheating and cheapens the album. Still, Mirman is a pretty funny guy, but he's not for everybody - he's got that sarcastic/droning voice which could irritate some people. see for yourself.
