God Wants to Hear You Sing is a book compromised of short stories of faith, overcoming, and the music that has helped people to overcome their challenges in life.
Ruthie Jacobsen, with Rodney Griffin, present each story, along with a song that Rodney has written, in each chapter of the book. Also there is a free cd or music download for your mp3player, of each song that is the titled chapters. Some of the chapter and song titles include, Merciful to Me, He's Still Waiting by the Well, Common Garment and the book title God Wants to Hear You Sing. If your a fan of southern gospel music, you will enjoy the free cd /download, as the music is very well performed.
This book has wonderful stories of real people living their lives to all they can to fulfill their purpose in God, the story of David Ring especially touched me, with his overcoming and his faith to know what God has called him to. Some of these stories, will have you chuckling, and some will have you near tears as you follow along, as they overcome and share their faith. Some of the stories were familiar to me, due to them being reprinted from other books I have read but this compilation, presented with the songs, was a wonderful book.
This book is a blessing to anyone who reads it, it is a faith builder, and a positive influence to all who read it, I give this book a 4 star rating.

The more I read--the more I realized that God wants to hear from you--not only in the good times--but when we are down and everything seems hopeless. We can always find something to praise Him for! What an awesome God we serve. He knows our needs before we ask. The secret is to prayer and seek His guidance. The book reminds me to sing and give praise no matter what the circumstances. How inspiring is that? Keep a song in your heart to help through those hard times.
Thank you so much for this book and the wonderful music that inspires me beyond measure. I am truly blessed!

In God Wants to Hear You Sing! accomplished author Ruthie Jacobsen joins hands with prolific song-writer Rodney Griffin, a member of the southern gospel trio Greater Vision. In its pages, the pair shares how the songs of Greater Vision have touched listeners, reminding them of scriptural truths and drawing them nearer to the heart of the gospel. Inspirational stories of spiritual growth, the power to witness, and the strength to rejoice in suffering are all recounted here.

When I accepted a copy of God Wants to Hear You Sing! for review I had never heard of the musical group Greater Vision. The book I received includes an offer to download the songs that go along with the inspirational stories in the book for free, or to order a CD and pay for the shipping. I have also seen the accompanying CD available for purchase separately on other websites and it now looks as though the CD is actually included with the book.

What I did found is that while the stories were touching, the southern gospel genre isn't one of my favorites. Though Greater Vision is a highly regarded group within that genre, I found the sound a bit old-fashioned and to be honest, quite slow, though I did enjoy the scriptural messages behind their music. The music also has a very rich, full-bodied traditional sound - it reminds me a bit of music that I heard my grandparents enjoying when I was a child. That being said this collection is best as a gift for those who already enjoy Greater Vision's work. Having a collection of life-changing stories that were inspired by the music of a group whose work you enjoy would surely be a wonderful gift for those who enjoy this style of music more than I do.

The stories are uplifting and heartwarming as they show how God helps us in all of our life's trials so we can become victorious. The words of the music cause us to reflect and also give comfort. I would highly recommend this book (it has a CD enclosed in the back cover)

Awesome book & CD . If you can't feel the Lord, then you really are needing His touch! And this book & CD can do it !

I really enjoyed this book so much. It really put things in perspective for me. I've also tried to put some of the advice to use and it has helped me spiritually also. I really recommend this to everyone, especially those that are going through a crisis and need encouragement.

It is an awesome book, that will leave with the assurance that God is always with us and no matter what we go through, he will never leave us. God does want to hear us sing. One of the best inspirational books in my libraty.

If you like Rodney Griffins songs and music, you will love this book. This is a book that is good for every day, especially when going through lifes trials. I suggest you have tissues handy because it is so true, and real in our lives. If you or a friend need encouragement, this book is a must have. Might as well get it any way because at some time or other you will need it.
