4.0 out of 5 stars Another great album........
After 'To Hell With The Devil' went nuts on MTV and sold like crazy, Stryper knew they had found an audience. And they milked it. I have owned this CD for a numbr of years. I personally think the CD was too mellow for a heavy metal band! There were some songs that rocked my socks off, but for the most part, this album was too "popish" for my liking!

After 'To Hell With The Devil' went nuts on MTV and sold like crazy, Stryper knew they had found an audience. And they milked it. This CD is much more radio friendly and not as heavy as their earlier stuff, but still good. "Always There For You" was the big hit here. Between that and "Honestly" (from their last album), I was hooked on Stryper. "In God We Trust" is a comical song, if you think about it. It's a great song, but after their previous album they had to be richer than hell (pun intended). Oh the irony. "Keep The Fire Burning" & "Believe In You" are great tunes. "The World Of You & I" and "Lonely" are my two favorite tunes here. They are both have that ballad feel to them, but never fall into the sappy realm. I recommend this if you like their other stuff or if you liked 80's hard rock in general.

5.0 out of 5 stars This album ROCKS!, December 5, 1999
This review is from: In God We Trust (Audio CD)
I grew up on Stryper. This album is a must have for everyone who loves 80's Heavy Metal! In God We Trust, along with Soldiers Under Command, and To Hell With the Devil are their best albums. If you don't have any of these YOU NEED TO BUY THEM ALL, THEY ARE GREAT! Stryper was the first christian band I ever listened to and they changed my view of music. Buy In God We Trust Today!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Criticized, October 14, 2005
This review is from: In God We Trust (Audio CD)
I have been a Stryper Fan since their debut in the early 80's, from their first album "The Yellow and Black Attack" to their latest "Reborn". And I have to say that "In God We Trust" was truly the peak of the band's career. The album is nearly flawless in every aspect. Michael Sweet's incredible vocals shine throughout every song and lyric. The album's hit "Always There For You" was a huge hit on MTV and in my opinion was one of their most inspirational songs to date. If you know Stryper, you will know some of their incredible ballads such as Honestly, All of Me, My Love I will Always Show" and on this album "I Believe In You", which are all unique. Unfortunately, this CD has received some harsh criticism from other viewers. It seems to me that whenever an artist or group ventures into uncharted territory, fans get fickle and overly critical and narrow minded. But I think if you listen with an open mind, you will appreciate the direction and quality of this album, which is unlike any of their other work.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME, July 15, 2000

Okay stop sniggering at the back, just cause someone mentioned Stryper, God's own angelic metal force! This CD is heavenly...sorry no more poor jokes, so seriously, this CD is a five star job no doubt what so ever. The band was always about melodies, and pitch perfect harmonies, but on this one Stryper decided to throw themselves at the pop metal market with abandon....and it works very well. Infact probably only "The Writing.." and "The Reign" could be described as reminisant of the previous releases by this band of Holy Men. All the other songs on offer here are less hard edged and more ambigious in terms of religious lyrical content. Or more to the point they could be taken as love songs etc. The highlights are the opening threesome being "In God We Trust", "Always There For You" and "Keep The Fire Burnin" which are perfect slices of Dokkenesque pop, so try not singing along! "Its Up To You" is a kind of Kiss style "I Love It Loud" chant along thing, but is a direct copy of "The Sing Along Song" on the bands previous album "To Hell...", its not very good on either occasion unfortunately. This is followed by the luciously vocalled "In the World Of You and I" which for some reason reminds me of Fleetwood Mac of all bands! Another mentionable has to be "Lonely" which is a magestic power ballad with tasteful twin guitars...lovely! Okay so its all corny as hell (oops)but it is certainly entertaining....brings a smile to my dial every time!

Stryper was simply a band that rose to the passion to ROCK FOR GOD when it probably wasn't cool in rock music... Glad they made the effort! I listened to this in the 80's and have the pleasure of letting my children experience the 'rockin' heart pounding sensation this band thrived to put out... Thank you Stryper!

4.0 out of 5 stars Gold Certified, December 25, 2009
This review is from: In God We Trust (Audio CD)
This was the second of two gold albums by Christian metal kings Stryper and the follow up to platinum certified To Hell With the Devil, usually regarded as the band's best album. I would put this fourth on the tier of the greatness to their whole career, just behind the Yellow & Black Attack at number three but a notch above Soldiers Under Command. By this point they were a veteran act after starting in the local Hollywood scene. Key tracks are the title song, Always There for You and Lonely.

Yet another great cd by stryper. I lost all of my cassettes of stryper and thought I would never find them. I love that they put them on cd so I could add to my collection. Stryper as a whole has always been one of the greatest bands that I really enjoy listening to over and over again. They always contain a Godly message in each and every song. The band and the cd is absolutely great.

4.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU LIKED TO HELL WITH THE DEVIL.....THIS IS PART 2, November 29, 2005
This review is from: In God We Trust (Audio CD)
This album is To Hell With The Devil Part 2. It starts off with a somewhat heavy song and one they have started their concerts with, the title track "In God We Trust." Then it goes right into the first single from the album "Always there for you". "Keep The Fire Buring" is next and has good vocal harmonies on it. It was also released as a single. And of course the ballad "I believe in you" (that really is a good song) is track 4. So far this is layered just like To Hell With The Devil. Opening track followed by three singles released from the band and also in the same order. A melodic song(Always there for you/Calling On You), to a Heavier song(Keep The Fire Burning/Free) and the ballads(I believe In You/Honestly). And of course you have "It's Up 2 You" that is like "Sing Along Song" and they are even both the first song on the second side of the albums!! I am not saying this is bad, not at all. If you like To Hell With The Devil then you are guaranteed to like this one.

Robert Sweet once said this album is about getting people to want to be Christians for the wonders of Heaven and not the fear of Hell. This album does seem "lighter" than To Hell With The Devil" and just because I said the albums sound the same does not mean these songs cannot hold their own. "Keep The Fire Burning" "The World Of You And I" "In God We Trust" "I Believe In You" and even "It's Up 2 You" with it's radio friendly sound is pretty good. The others on here are what you can expect from a Stryper album except maybe "The Reign" which is a very fast song and one some fans really like. I could never really get into it even after several listens.

This Album will not disappoint fans of To Hell With The Devil or any of the previous albums by Stryper. It is nothing new but it remains a favorite of many Stryper fans. "I Believe In You" could actually be the best ballad the band has made. While not as popular as "Honestly" this one is a very underated song from Stryper as it features some of Michaels best vocals on it. Would be great to hear this one live!! This album was also the last one that had straight forward Christian lyrics. The next album was the controversial "Against The Law" that was unfairly received by fans of the band. I have a review of that one if you want to check it out.

Stand Out songs: "In God We Trust" "I Believe In You" "The World Of You And I" and "Keep The Fire Burining"
