But because we never know when, where, or how God is going to show up, we often wonder: Just exactly how does He go about the business of helping us when we dont know what to do?
Henry Cloud and John Townsend believe God has given us instructions on how He makes a way for us when we call on Him. They believe that, just as you would exercise faith in a doctor by following his advice to get well physically, if you follow Gods eight principles in this book, you can thrive relationally, emotionally, and spiritually.
These principles offer a groundbreaking new approach to recognizing when God is present and how He works His will in our lives.THE PRINCIPLES OF THE WAY
- Begin your journey with God
- Choose your traveling companions wisely
- Place high value on wisdom
- Leave your baggage behind
- Own your faults and weaknesses
- Embrace problems as gifts
- Take life as it comes
- Love God with all you are
As clinical psychologists, the authors deal daily with real people facing real problems, so this book is not just psychological or biblical theory: In fact, Part II of God Will Make a Way shows the principles at work in twelve key areas of life: dating, marriage, sex, conflict, parenting, fear, lost love, addictions, anger, depression, weight loss, and personal goals.
God Will Make a Way is more than a remarkably helpful book. It is a life system that captures Gods wisdom for coping with our most difficult problems. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

This book began my healing from abuse,
By _ "IowaShorts" (CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do (Hardcover)
I was in an emotionally abusive relationship but didn't know it. And as a man, it made it harder for me because men aren't very likely to be seen as victims of abuse. So I was confused, disoriented to the max, and didn't have a clue about who to turn to or what to do. And even though I am a devout Christian, just my belief in God was not enough by itself to show me what I could not see in front of me. I also believe that God designed us so that we need to be in relationship with each other, helping each other and that He does a bulk of His work through others.
So one day I was scanning the radio dial for help and came across Dr. Townsend's radio counseling show. Then I heard them mention their book, "What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do" That's the ONLY thing that I knew to do, so I called up and ordered it. It's simple, maybe simplistic, yes. It asks you to rely on God, yes. But for me, at that moment, all I could grasp was something simple. And if for some reason you're opposed to God or relying on Him (but why would you???), then you could still glean the messages from it which are still valid on practical levels. The part of the book that when I got to, threw a lifeline to me was the part that said, "If you don't know what to do, get more information". A light bulb went off and I knew that a great part of my paralysis to any movement forward to healing was because I just plain didn't know anything about what I was feeling. That little step was just the key and then I began researching like crazy on the internet and slowly, albeit reluctantly, I began to understand what my condition was and how it had been created. Of course, that led to what to do about it, also. But truly, sometimes - maybe often - we just don't have a clue about ourselves, our situation, others, or what we're feeling or experiencing. This book is for those times. At those times we need a simplistic approach - a very basic approach. That's why this book was a life saver to me and probably to many others. And again, if you've got a thing against God, or even having God in your life, then why even write a review? This book is titled very correctly. It's not for those like the reviewers below who have an idea about what they think they need and how that should look and sound. It's for those of us who truly are at a loss as to where to even begin. This was a miraculous book in a simple, little book's clothing.

Finally a book that teaches the difference between wanting something more and getting something more. Very clear explanation on how to forgive but not be a doormat. A must read!

There is a Way,
By A Customer
This review is from: God Will Make a Way: What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do (Hardcover)
There is a way - sometimes not what we expect. Why is it we turn to God as only a "last resort"?! This book is so practical and fresh. It should be very helpful - and hopeful - to all of us who lose our way from time to time. A great thought-provoking book.
