I got a chance to meet Lao Russell once before she died, at her home of Swannanoa, just outside of Waynesboro, VA. She was the embodiment of what she teaches in her book.

She says in her book that we are headed towards a calamity that only working together for the common good can avoid. She states categorically that only be equalizing men and women can we reach for that which seems unattainable. Her philosophy attempts to get you to answer some of the greatest questions of all time. It is through those answers that we, as humans, can achieve greatness.

She was convinced, as I am, that without a true knowledge of God we are nothing. She then attempts to answer the challenge that she sets forth to get people to stop the headlong decline and fall of the human race before we exterminate ourselves. Lao was convinced that even one person, acting correctly, could change the world.

It's unfortunate that since her death, her book has largely been forgotten, and the University of Science and Philosophy that her and her husband co-founded has lost the rights to the wonderful Swannanoa and its marvelous gardens. Even Walter Russell's fabulous sculptures are in storage somewhere - unseen in the public eye.

Get a copy and read it - it may just convince you, too, to help change the world.

Swananoa is nestled in Virginia and is a place that expresses what the Russells were all about. "God will work with you but not for you" really tells the story. Become familar with both Lao and Walter. Not only are they gifted writers but painters and sculpturer's. Lao sculputuer of Jesus is the first to show strength in the neck. Walters "elements of earth" is beyond words. Their joint writings should be in every library. Swanano is a place that needs to be experienced. My first experience was in 1980 and it still stirs excitment in me today.

This book is a very good philosophy of life. It shares the moral teachings of Christ with a slightly New Age flavor. This title was recommended to me by a very wise elderly man I know.
