So Jacob was left alone and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched Jacob's hip so that his hip was wrenched...

Genesis 32:26
...Jacob replied, "I will not let you go unless you bless me."

Jacob continued his wrestling match all night to receive the blessing. This was his life changing event and as a result God changed his name from Jacob (the deceiver) to Israel (the one who struggles with God and overcomes) reflecting Jacob's character change.
Being blessed by God often comes from struggling through tough times. It's when we have nowhere else to turn that we passionately hold on to God for the answer.

I never had a deep understanding of this Bible story until I read God Wrestling by Mike Evans. Yet the book has more to offer than a simple surface understanding of a Bible passage. Mr. Evans writes of his personal struggles and life changing meetings with God. In his book he takes the reader through steps to releasing the power of God in their lives and recognizing their own self-created obstacles.

God Wrestling challenges believers to give up trying to live a Christian life and let Christ live His life through them according to His purpose not theirs. Evans shows the vast difference between knowing of Jesus and having been with Jesus.

Is this book for you?
I would recommend it for any believer who is committed in his faith and is serious about developing a deeper knowledge of Jesus Christ. At 173 pages, this book is not long, but you should be prepared to spend time meditating over many thought-provoking passages.

When one accepts Christ as their Lord & Saviour, a conversion takes place. "All things become new" as it says in the scripture. What is conversion - a belief change. Yet, many Christians get stuck there and the "flesh" continues to demand its way. Mike Evans shows you exactly what Christians must do to be Transformed. "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your minds"
This book is not simply a pleasure read but a book that will transform your life. It's all about HIM! You can have as much or as little of God as you like. Great reading & God Wrestling....Enjoy!

Some of the other responses I am reading to this book reveal that alot of these reviewers that call themselves Christians do not read the Bible. Jesus had righteous anger towards the money changers in the Temple (lv23) and (trapperj) needs to read the book of Ezekiel. I cannot believe these people are so ignorant-God love you but at least do your homework.
