From Library Journal
Spear is a retired nun of the Dominican order who has volunteered for several years at the Adrian Correctional Institutions in Michigan. In this brief book, she shares some stories of her encounters with the male prisoners there. The narratives invite those men and others behind bars, as well as their friends and families, to consider the measures that led them to prison but also to rely on God for comfort and hope. Some may find Spear's writing and approach simplistic. But the prison population is too little addressed or helped by most spiritual writing, and this book attempts to fill that gap. For many collections.
